Job description


The Alkermes Commercial Learning and Leadership Development (CL&LD) team is looking for someone who will lead the development of field training programs supporting Alkermes' growing portfolio of mental health treatments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full portfolio of Alkermes promoted products and Commercial field teams. This new position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in an entrepreneurial environment creating impactful, world class training programs that support sales force effectiveness.
Alkermes has a hybrid working environment to support and meet the needs of employees and this role will operate in a flexible environment with 60% of time in the office and 40% from home.
Responsibilities
Key Duties:
Curriculum / Workshop Development
  • Partner with franchise / department leaders on business strategy
  • Translate business strategy into curriculum / workshop design and development
  • Support learning team in development of curricula / workshops aligned to business strategy
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate training programs, curricula, and training materials for field representatives, account managers and field management in alignment with business objectives
  • Lead on ensuring that all curriculum/workshops have a learner first focus

Facilitation
  • Reviews workshop objectives in alignment with business strategy, providing recommendations to support desired outcomes
  • Organize, facilitate and continually improve field training programs, meetings (National & Regional) and the delivery of new materials
  • Develop and conduct training workshops on disease states, products, marketplaces, and contextual selling skills for all types of audiences
  • Coach commercial field learning managers on facilitation techniques and alignment with team vision

Internal Communication and Influence
  • Lead on department projects
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Prepare and deliver polished and impactful presentations in team setting and to leaders at all levels
  • Partner in development and implementation of tactical direction on team projects
  • Proactively communicate with marketing, field leadership, and other key stakeholders to identify training requirements and develop specific training programs to achieve business objectives
  • Influence department strategic direction and decision-making through advice, counsel and facilitation

Copy Clearance Committee (CCC) Support
  • Full understanding of CCC process and attends all respective CCC planning meetings
  • Responsible as content-owner to shepherd pieces through CCC process to approval
  • Identify potential challenges and solutions prior to CCC review
  • Escalate potential challenges early to ensure alignment and support
  • Support new commercial field learning managers to develop understanding of CCC process

Vendor / Contract Management
  • Partner with CL&LD leadership on annual / bi-annual vendor-partner review
  • Lead projects with vendor partners ensuring all timelines and deliverables are met
  • Lead the identification, selection and day-to-day management of vendors as well as existing relationships and projects relating to field training (SOW and PO generation and vendor management)
  • Support new commercial field learning managers to develop vendor / contract management skills

Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Enhance relationships with internal leaders across franchises to be seen as critical business partners
  • Knowledgeable and proficient at navigating organizational networks
  • Lead and contribute effectively in team and cross-functional meetings, with the ability to take the lead

Budget Management
  • Accountable for franchise budget
  • Accountable for travel & expenses (T&E) and specific project-based budget as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device sales experience

Preferred Skills and Knowledge Qualifications:
  • Prior training experience (field or headquarters)
  • Experience selling injectables and/or physician administered treatments in challenging reimbursement environments
  • Experience selling in the Psychiatry or Addiction markets
  • Experience leading direct reports
  • Building & executing training programs
  • Experience in utilizing technology to engage field groups
  • Demonstrated track record of success in sales
  • Proven ability to create, develop & lead projects
  • High level of initiative and ownership
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • In-depth understanding of sales & the sales process
  • Team player able to develop rapport and credibility with key stakeholders
  • Natural ability to flex & adapt in real time based on multiple channels of feedback

Travel Requirements:
  • Up to 60% travel

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $162k to $185k. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
