Job description

Overview

This is a temporary position, working 40 hours per week.  This position will end on August 7, 2026.

We are looking for a passionate Child Care Teacher to join our team. You will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children, supporting their social, emotional, and cognitive development in compliance with Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) guidelines. 

This positions works Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM depending upon the needs of the center.

World of Care specialized child care center is designed to meet the individual needs of children who have medical conditions requiring daily nursing care and children with developmental disabilities who require multiple therapies (physical, occupational, or speech/language).

While we accept typically developing children, priority for admission is given to children who are medically fragile or developmentally delayed or disabled.

World of Care is accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education and licensed by the Maryland Office of Child Care Administration.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development. 
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment in compliance with MSDE regulations. 
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff. 
  • Observe and document children's progress and share updates with families. 
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing and health requirements. 
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training. 
Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Completion of the 90-hour Preschool Certification approved by MSDE. 
  • 45-hour Infant and Toddler Certification (required if caring for children under age 2). 
  • Ability to obtain the following within 90 days of employment:  
  • ADA Training
  • Basic Health and Safety Certificate
  • At least 1 year of experience working with preschool or infant/toddler children OR 30 semester hours of college coursework in early childhood education or a related field. 
  • 9 clock hours of approved training in communication with staff, parents, and the public. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development (minimum 12 clock hours annually). 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with families and staff. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. 
  • Additional coursework or certifications in early childhood education. 
  • Experience working with children with special needs. 
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills. 
  • Familiarity with MSDE regulations and licensing requirements.
