Job description

The Senior Manager, National Tax Learning is responsible for executing learning strategies to increase the effectiveness and maximize the efficiencies of firm resources dedicated to National Tax Learning (NTL) programs. The Senior Manager will assist with leading the design, development, and implementation of the continuous learning curricula and delivery methods for all tax professionals that span group live trainings (in-person or virtual), webinars, and a variety of blended learning offerings.

Job Duties
  • Applies technical knowledge to lead tax curriculum design in a way which addresses BDO tax professionals’ learning needs in the areas of tax technical, BDO standard process, and BDO standard technology
  • Collaborates with and enables tax subject matter experts to develop course content which supports the NTL curriculum vision
  • Integrates and aligns job-specific tax competencies within tax learning curriculum
  • Evaluates curriculum effectiveness based on participant and presenter feedback
  • Applies data analytics to curriculum datasets to understand effectiveness, areas of improvement, and overall impact
  • Collaborates with Core Business Services, including National Learning & Development (L&D), Leadership Development, and Business Development teams, on cross-functional curriculum design and development
  • Collaborates with National Tax Office professionals, subject matter experts, and L&D teams to deliver virtual learning programs and convert such programs into on-demand learning courses
  • Participates on professional committees and serves as a liaison with other accounting firms or collegiate institutions
  • Acts with honesty and integrity, applying the relevant regulations, standards, and the BDO Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Acts as a Career Advisor to associates, seniors and managers, as assigned
  • Provides ongoing verbal and written performance feedback and reviews to associates, seniors, and managers
  • Supervises BDO tax professionals when acting in a training capacity, providing feedback regarding contributions to the NTL vision
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources, preferred

Experience:

  • Eight (8) years of prior work experience, required
  • Prior supervisory experience, required

License/Certifications:

  • CPA certification, preferred

Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required
  • Experience with Tax software, preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills, as well as active listening skills
  • Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of tax
  • Collaborative individual skilled in teaming with multiple stakeholder groups
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex topics to a variety of audiences

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $140,000 - $180,000
Maryland Range: $140,000 - $180,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 - $180,000
