Position Summary...What you'll do...Director, Learning & Development – Associate and Sales Development Role Summary
The Director of Learning & Development, Associate and Sales Development leads Walmart Connect’s internal capability and sales enablement programs. This role is accountable for building the skills, capabilities, and leadership pipeline needed to achieve business outcomes across the associate and sales organizations. The Director oversees all learning programs spanning associate development, onboarding, leadership development, and sales enablement, ensuring they are strategically aligned with Walmart Connect’s business priorities. By combining learning strategy, data-driven design, and performance analytics, this leader ensures the training and education team delivers measurable impact, equipping associates to grow, sellers to perform, and partners to thrive. This role leads a team of learning designers and facilitators and partners cross-functionally to create scalable, engaging, and outcome-based learning programs that accelerate performance and drive business success. Key Responsibilities Learning Strategy & Alignment
  • Define and execute a comprehensive learning strategy that spans the associate and sales lifecycle, from onboarding to leadership readiness to advanced capability development.
  • Align all training initiatives with Walmart Connect’s business priorities, talent strategy, and performance metrics.
  • Establish tiered, role-based learning paths (e.g., 101/201/301) for business teams, sales teams, technical roles, and people leaders.
  • Build integrated learning pathways that connect associate development with sales readiness, ensuring a consistent learner journey from hire to high performance.
Associate Development
  • Lead Onboarding 2.0, creating immersive, structured ramp-up programs that deliver business context and accelerate new hire productivity.
  • Develop continuous learning (“everboarding”) programs that support ongoing skill growth, career progression, and leadership readiness.
  • Partner with HR and People Analytics to connect associate learning with engagement, internal mobility, and talent retention.
  • Design and oversee leadership development programs for emerging and existing people leaders.
  • Launch targeted programs for specific employee segments, implementing interventions to close capability gaps and build organizational agility.
Sales Development & Enablement
  • Design and oversee Walmart Connect’s sales training strategy, including onboarding, bootcamps, certifications, and advanced enablement programs.
  • Develop a tiered Sales Curriculum (101/201/301) that evolves sellers from foundational skills to strategic, data-driven, consultative selling.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Product Marketing, and Partner Enablement to ensure learning programs are integrated with go-to-market strategies, product updates, and client needs.
  • Ensure training addresses both the “why” and the “how” enabling sales teams to translate features into customer value and impact.
  • Use analytics to correlate learning with key sales metrics, including quota attainment, deal velocity, win rates, and customer satisfaction.
Curriculum & Experience Oversight
  • Serve as the curator and quality owner of TED’s learning content across both associate and sales programs.
  • Ensure curriculum design incorporates UX, cognitive science, and behavioral psychology principles for maximum engagement and retention.
  • Foster innovation in delivery by applying blended learning, experiential learning, and AI-enabled personalization across programs.
Performance Analytics & Measurement
  • Use data and analytics to identify skill gaps, measure proficiency, and demonstrate learning ROI.
  • Define and track KPIs for both associate and sales learning initiatives, linking outcomes to productivity, retention, promotion readiness, quota attainment, and sales cycle optimization.
  • Partner with Learning Platforms and Data teams to implement standardized dashboards that measure learning impact consistently across verticals.
  • Conduct ongoing quantitative and qualitative capability assessments to validate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales, Product, HR, Marketing, and Partner Enablement to ensure training initiatives support current and emerging business needs.
  • Align with HR and leadership on associate engagement and mobility strategies to ensure learning supports long-term talent goals.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and Product Marketing to integrate product education and enablement with sales performance strategy.
  • Promote collaboration between Associate Development and Sales Development teams to build a unified performance pipeline that nurtures talent from onboarding to advanced selling capabilities.
  • Secure executive sponsorship by clearly demonstrating the ROI and strategic impact of learning investments.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of L&D professionals, fostering innovation in learning methods and program delivery.
  • Build a culture of inclusivity, continuous improvement, and learner-centered design within TED.
  • Serve as a thought leader and advocate for performance-driven learning across Walmart Connect.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience: 10–15+ years in Learning & Development, Talent Management, or Sales Enablement, with a proven record of enterprise program design and measurable impact.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in a tech, media, or advertising environment strongly preferred.
  • Leadership: Strong people leadership and strategic influence skills; ability to translate business needs into capability strategies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in learning experience design, adult learning theory, blended learning modalities, and data-driven measurement frameworks.
  • Business Acumen: Proven ability to link learning investments to KPIs such as productivity, retention, revenue growth, and sales conversion.
  • Communication: Excellent executive presence, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in HR, Education, Business, or related field. Certifications in L&D (CPTD, Kirkpatrick, etc.) advantageous.
Measures of Success
  • Reduction in associate time-to-proficiency and increased engagement and retention rates.
  • Demonstrable improvement in sales capability and measurable impact on sales performance metrics (quota attainment, win rate, deal velocity).
  • Increased participation and satisfaction across onboarding, development, and leadership programs.
  • Enhanced cross-vertical collaboration and alignment between Associate and Sales Development.
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders and executive leadership regarding learning ROI and strategic value.

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
