EARLY INTERVENTION ASSISTANT
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The Early Intervention Assistant supports the interdisciplinary team in providing services to eligible children. This role works directly with children in the classroom to help implement strategies and goals outlined in IEPs and IFSPs, while supporting teaching staff in meeting children’s developmental needs. The Early Intervention Assistant also assists with documentation, data entry, and administrative tasks to ensure accurate and timely program compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
All duties will comply with all rules, regulations, and practices of the agency and its regulating authorities. WCFD standards, DFS licensing, NAEYC guidelines, Wyoming Division of Disabilities regulations, and WCFD policies. All employees will adhere to the mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures of WCFD.
  • Assist with referral and assessment of coordination.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured learning environment.
  • Assist with maintaining student records and reports.
  • Work directly with children during daily routines, activities, and learning opportunities to support developmental, social, and behavioral goals.
  • Assist with documenting classroom intervention data.
  • Help prepare data for required reports.
  • Participate in program staff meetings as needed.
  • Assist teaching staff in adapting activities and classroom strategies to support children with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, children, and families.
  • Assist with recruiting children and families for enrollment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Reinforce therapeutic and developmental strategies recommended by the ESCE team within the classroom environment.
  • Perform job duties safely, with or without accommodation.
  • Complete physical and TB assessment before working.
  • Obtain CPR and First Aid within 90 days.
  • Observe and document child progress and share information with the DD team to support service planning and progress monitoring.
  • Complete required background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license, insurance, and safe records.
  • Complete required health statements and annual assessment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to work well with adults and children ranging from (0-5) with special needs and their family
  • Reliable, organized, and detail oriented
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to collaborate with individuals with diverse ranges of personalities, backgrounds, and knowledge bases
  • Strong communication skills are essential to interact with staff, children, families, and the broader community.
  • Must have effective stress management strategies and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility is key; the ability to adapt to changing daily routines is required.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D. and be 18 years of age (state requirements).
  • Prefer experience with Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP’s) and Individual Education Programs (IEP’s) and the Part B and Part C developmental disabilities programs.
  • Must be willing to attain additional training or certifications, which may be required by Wyoming Child and Family Development, Inc.
  • WCFD will only accept college degrees from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures, including hot and cold weather.
  • Ability to travel across a multi-county region; work in homes, community settings, and office environments; maintain flexible scheduling to meet availability needs.
