Job description

Overview
The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University seeks a TES Education Program Assistant to design and facilitate arts education programs for school, after school, teacher, and family audiences. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Education, Engagement and Learning and will implement a wide range of programming including object-based tours, hands-on workshops, and local off-site community outreach engagements. This position will also provide support for the Auburn Studio Project, an annual partnership between the Jule, the City of Auburn, and East Samford School which serves approximately 150 7th grade students.
Responsibilities
  • Designs and facilitates arts education programming for school, after-school, teacher and family audiences
  • Facilitates object-based tours, hands-on workshops, and local off-site community outreach programs
  • Supports the annual Auburn Studio Project
  • Provides support to the Assistant Director of Education, Engagement and Learning regarding programs and tours for varied audiences
  • Participates in the Education, Engagement, and Learning Unit as an active and collaborative staff member
  • Supports the Assistant Director of Education, Engagement and Learning and the Academic Programs Manager with scheduling and training of Student Guides

Note: The Jule follows a non-traditional schedule. We are open to the public on Saturdays and major events occur in the evenings and/or weekends.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in education program management OR
  • Associate's degree plus 2 years of experience services OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with pedagogical and engagement trends in the areas of children and family learning, technology, and State of Alabama education standards.
