Job description

The Coordinator of Learning & Development is responsible for administrative coordination and operation support of the Learning & Development Department in its work to provide learning opportunities that are strategic, impactful, timely, staff performance enhancing and cost effective. The Learning & Development Department accomplishes this by orienting and promoting staff investment in our agency's mission, values, and culture; ensuring fulfillment of all grant-mandated training requirements; and assisting staff in gaining knowledge, sharing best practices, and applying skills to fully implement program models.
In this role, one should be a culture carrier that is passionate about helping people learn and grow. The Learning and Development Coordinator does this work with an anti-racist and equity lens and ensures our trainings have these principles embedded into them. Good Shepherd Services strives to be a leader in non-profit professional development. The Coordinator supports the Director, the Learning Collaborative and the Senior Coordinator on administrative tasks, special projects and performs other duties as assigned. Key responsibilities include training and professional development coordination, administrative and clerical operations, marketing and communications, and assisting with cultivating an inclusive learning environment.

Hours: 35 Hours / Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $57,000 - $62,000

Major Duties:
Curriculum Development and E-Learning
  • Promote the organizational shift from a culture of training to a learning and development culture with learning objectives supporting a mission-aligned lens.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Learning & Development and internal and external facilitators to develop and assess content for curriculum and communication plans for its roll out to staff
  • Collaborate with the Director of Learning & Development to develop a mechanism of assessing on-going needs and revising the curriculum as needed
  • Utilize web-based systems to facilitate online learning, if needed
  • Identify and prioritize customized eLearning offerings and sources
  • Assist with continuing education unit and learning credits, if needed

Facilitation
  • Assist with the L&D team overview during new hire orientation onboarding
  • Familiar with adult learning, group dynamics, participatory facilitation skills or a desire to learn facilitator methodology a plus
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, internal and external facilitators and consultants

Project Management and Program Operations
  • Collaborate and provide insight for development and execution of departmental long- and short-term goals and the agency's strategic plan
  • Assist with the promotion and development of external trainings and revenue-based learning, if needed
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development Coordinator(s) and Director in reviewing the content and creation of quarterly catalogs and ensure catalogs are aligned with the department goals, division's mission aligned lens and the overall agency strategic plan
  • Help project manage development of customized eLearnings, including collaboration with subject matter experts and the Learning Management System Coordinator.
  • Help coordinate learning and development requests outside of regular catalog planning, including special events, support workshops, community workshops, training forums, JGTL Institute, etc., when needed
  • Provide workshop room set-up and breakdown, attendance monitoring, and coverage as needed
  • Help ensure mandatory enrollment and training compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Additional Qualifications:
  • Associates degree required
  • At least 2 years of significant administrative, clerical and operations coordination management experience required
  • Keen judgment with ability to evaluate and respond appropriately to sensitive/urgent situations
  • Highly organized, efficient, able to work under pressure and able to adhere to deadlines
  • Experience in learning and development, social services strongly preferred
  • Ability to use public transportation for travel to program locations throughout New York City
  • Experience with Cornerstone Learning Management Systems or other LMS platforms
  • Must be able to work independently, be self-motivated, detail-orientated and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have strong customer service and relationship-building skills
