The Role

BeyondTrust is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to help lead the evolution of the Pathfinder products within our cloud offering. You will be at the forefront of designing and building a new platform-native module, along with scalable, secure, and extensible services that power our SaaS offerings. As the technical owner of the NHI Governance domain, you will lead the server-side loop – discover, assess, and remediate non-human identities (service accounts, workload identities, secrets and keys, and AI agents) across cloud and on-premise environments. As a technical leader on the team, you will own architecture for complex systems, define the interfaces and contracts that other teams build upon, and drive technical direction across cross-functional efforts, solving complex identity and security challenges at scale.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, build, andmaintainhighly scalable and resilient platform services, APIs, and data pipelines.
  • Own architecture for complex, cross-cutting systems and define the interfaces and contracts other teams depend on.
  • Provide technical oversight and lead design for complex projects that span multiple teams.
  • Review functional and technical requirements toidentifygaps and limitations, propose simplifications, and communicate ideas effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, promoting best practices in security, operational excellence, and cloud-native development.
  • Contribute to platform-wide initiatives, aligning technical strategy with business goals across BeyondTrust.
  • Drive quality, observability, and performance across the services your team owns.
  • Help resolve ambiguity to ensure work is properly defined, scoped, and sequenced.
What You’ll Bring
  • Expertisein architecting and developing microservices and cloud-native solutions.
  • Strong programming skills in C#, Go, TypeScript, Java, or other modern languages, with deep experience in API design andmicroservicesarchitecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code (or comparable agentic AI coding tools) to design, build, and review software at high velocity, with the judgment toestablisheffective patterns and guardrails for the team.
  • Experience designing systems, interfaces, and contracts consumed by multiple teams or products.
  • Strong, hands-on AWSexpertisein designing, hosting, and operating production applications at scale, includingcompute(e.g., EKS), networking, IAM, managed data stores, and sound scaling, reliability, and cost trade-offs.
  • Understanding ofCICD strategies and hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with data modeling, exploration, and visualization at scale.
  • Proventrack recordof leading cross-team technical initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity while driving the technical direction.
  • Familiarity with modern observability and test strategies in cloud environments.
  • Full-stack familiarity (e.g., a modern JavaScript framework such as Angular or React with TypeScript) is a plus.

  • Domain experience in identity security: IAM, NHI/Secrets, cloud IAM (AWS IAM, Microsoft Entra ID), OAuth/OIDC.
  • Graph databases, graph data modeling, and analytics at scale.
