Job description

At CAE, we are seeking a Manager, Courseware Standards & Innovation who will lead the development and governance of courseware standards, templates, and workflows to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across all training products. This role drives innovation by introducing new tools, technologies, and methodologies that enhance instructional design and learner engagement. Acting as the central authority for courseware quality systems, this role enables scalable, compliant, and high-quality production processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Develop and maintain standardized courseware templates, development workflows, and production guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency across teams.

  • Create and enforce quality assurance checklists and review processes for instructional design and media development.

  • Define best practices for learning objectives, assessments, and content structure to ensure pedagogical integrity.

  • Research and implement emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies to modernize courseware and improve learner experience.

  • Partner with the courseware development pod resources to embed standards and innovation into daily workflows.

  • Monitor industry trends, learner feedback, and performance data to refine standards and introduce new approaches.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, or HCI; ID certifications (e.g., ATD, eLearning Guild) beneficial

  • 8-12 years in L&D/courseware; 3-5 leading standards/templates/workflows.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Core & Functional Skills

  • Template architecture (storyboards, scripts, media specs)

  • Workflow design & process mapping (from intake to deployment)

  • Quality systems (checklists, peer reviews, QA sign-off)

  • Instructional design standards (objectives, assessments, sequencing)

  • Innovation scouting (tools, methodologies, pilots, A/B tests)

  • Strong proficiency in English is required for this role
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
