Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Director, Learning and Development to join our Chewy Vet Care Learning and Development team. The position will oversee the design and development vertical that supports our Chewy Vet Care locations. This role is accountable for building scalable leadership pathways, leader programs and aligning leadership investments to business performance outcomes. This leader reports to the Senior Director of Learning & Development and coordinates the comprehensive leadership growth plan for Practice Managers, Veterinarians, and operational leaders. They ensure clinical learning standards promote consistent, high-quality veterinary care. The role will oversee the learning strategy, content approval, process improvements and analysis of the delivered experiences to determine where improvements are needed while partnering with key collaborators across Chewy Vet Care to create the maximum impact.

What you'll do:

  • Own the enterprise leadership development strategy for Chewy Vet Care
  • Design and implement leadership programming for Practice Managers, Veterinarians, District Leaders and Regional Leaders.
  • Optimize the design or our existing learning programs for leaders, including virtual and in-person training, eLearning, experiential and peer-to-peer training.
  • Establish clear career pathways and learning journeys for Team Members across Chewy Vet Care in partnership with HR.
  • Partner with HR to align leadership programs with succession planning and performance management.
  • Ensure leadership capability aligns with Chewy’s cultural standards and growth strategy.
  • Suggests innovative solutions to increase overall satisfaction and engagement in the learning experiences for Chewy Vet Care Team Members.
  • Responsible for defining metrics associated with learning effectiveness to drive business performance across programs. Partnering with collaborators to close the feedback loop and make improvement pre and post training.
  • Identifies how best to keep Senior Leadership informed and what cadence is appropriate to earn trust across partners and leadership.  
  • Develop and implement a strategy for integrating AI-enabled tools into leadership programs to enhance scalability, personalization, and performance impact. Including personalized learning pathways, skill diagnostics and capability gap analysis and leadership coaching and reinforcement.
  • Drives the strategy of committed operating plans or three-year plans in partnership with key partners. 
  • Collaborate to react quickly to any decrease in metrics, putting a plan into place with partners to make immediate improvements.
  • Develops and manages project plans, status reports, and action/assumption/risk/decision logs to provide ongoing synthesis of project health.
  • Partner with key collaborators to identify knowledge and skill gaps across the teams and roll out targeted programs.
  • Lead a team consisting of Learning Architects, Learning Designers and Medical Managers.

What you'll need:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in learning and development, specifically in retail or customer service industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to deliver content in an engaging and compelling manner.
  • An interest in adult learning and blended learning with a willingness to think outside of the box when creating programs.
  • Proven track record in creating content successfully with measurable results in fast paced environments
  • Strong ability to represent concepts, as well as summarize and communicate complex ideas into curriculum.
  • Able to lead and mentor a team.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into critical initiatives and drive them to successful outcomes.
  • Well-versed in training, talent and development subject matter.
  • Strong experience in all Microsoft office products and training technology platforms.
  • Ability to be flexible to business needs and adjust/compromise plans as needed.

Bonus:

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Human Resources, Training or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service and/or other high-volume service-oriented industry.
The base salary range for this role is $170,500 - $271,500.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
