Allegheny County Department of Human Services (ACDHS) is the largest agency with a $1 billion+ budget, supporting over 200,000 residents annually through community partnerships.
The ACDHS Internship Program offers students practical experience in public service, involving meaningful projects that enhance social services. ACDHS seeks undergraduate and graduate students to apply their skills, work with professionals, and impact programs serving vulnerable groups.

  • Dates: January 2027-Summer 2027
  • Hours: 20-29 hours/week; flexible within business hours (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.)

  • Enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university (undergraduate or graduate)

Business Analytics Internships Overview
  • The Business Analytics internship at ACDHS offers students the opportunity to apply their technical skills to real-world challenges that impact individuals, families, and communities across Allegheny County.
  • As a Business Analytics Intern, you will work on projects that help ACDHS improve services, make informed decisions, and better understand community needs. You will gain hands-on experience using data, analytics, and business acumen to support aging services programs.

What You'll Do
  • The intern will be supporting both business unit functions and completing analytics projects. Business unit functions are expected to include billing support, report running, and data monitoring. Analytics projects are expected to include dashboard development, fee-for-service program evaluation, and process optimization.
  • The intern will support the initial development and stabilization of the aging business unit. The team transitioning to the business unit are also in the aging analytics team and both units have significant project backlogs as new work begins. Therefore, the intern will be supporting the units as best as they can with projects and critical processes.

Required/Preferred Skills
  • Experience with dashboarding tools like Tableau or Power BI is highly preferred. Proficiency in Excel is required. Experience or training in SQL or programming languages is also required.
  • Students from business or business-adjacent majors would be a good match as the internship will have a business core.
