About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior AI Engineer — Agentic Systems to join a senior engineering team building production-grade AI agents for customer-facing applications at enterprise scale.

This role is focused on developing and deploying LLM-powered agentic systems capable of handling multi-turn conversations, tool calling, retrieval, escalation, and human handoff. The ideal candidate will have proven experience taking AI agents from architecture and development through production deployment, evaluation, optimization, and ongoing improvement.

This is not a chatbot or proof-of-concept role. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience delivering reliable, scalable, and secure agentic AI systems in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy production-grade LLM-based agentic workflows for customer-facing applications.
  • Build multi-turn conversational agents supporting tool calling, retrieval, escalation, and human handoff.
  • Own agent orchestration using LangGraph, LangChain, or equivalent agent frameworks.
  • Design state management, workflow orchestration, guardrails, failure recovery, and human-in-the-loop capabilities.
  • Integrate AI agents with existing Java/Spring Boot microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Develop and maintain RAG pipelines, prompt/context engineering, embeddings, retrieval, and tool/function calling capabilities.
  • Build and optimize LLM evaluation frameworks, including automated evaluations, regression testing, trace analysis, and A/B testing.
  • Work with LLM inference and serving technologies including vLLM or comparable platforms.
  • Integrate commercial LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.
  • Use PyTorch and model fundamentals to fine-tune models, debug model behavior, and evaluate model tradeoffs.
  • Design scalable distributed systems using APIs, queues, caching, observability, and CI/CD.
  • Implement AI safety and governance practices including PII protection, auditability, guardrails, deterministic fallbacks, and observability.
  • Monitor production agent performance, troubleshoot failures, and continuously improve reliability, latency, and response quality.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, product teams, security teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, documentation, security, and production readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with senior or lead-level ownership of production systems.
  • Proven hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based agentic systems into production.
  • Strong proficiency in Python as a primary AI/ML development language.
  • Strong experience with Java, preferably Java/Spring/Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent agent orchestration frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • LLM application development
    • Agent orchestration
    • Prompt engineering
    • Context engineering
    • Tool/function calling
    • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Working knowledge of PyTorch and machine learning/model fundamentals.
  • Experience with LLM inference and serving, including vLLM, TGI, TensorRT-LLM, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with commercial LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, queues, caching, observability, and CI/CD.
  • Experience building reliable, scalable, secure, and production-ready software systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
