Role Summary
The Lean Specialist 2 will support the training of internal staff on Lean tools and help maintain Lean transformation processes and programs, taking on increasingly more complex tasks and roles. This position will be responsible for maintaining training/planning materials, assisting in the coaching of project teams, and helping all employees understand and applying Lean Principles to their work while building an understanding of the use of Lean principles in construction. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
LEAN SPECIALIST FAMILY - CORE
  • Supports the training of internal staff on Lean tools. Helps develop and maintain Lean transformation processes and programs
  • Gathers information and completes analysis to assess impact of Lean transformation on projects
  • May train and support team members with basic lean tools
  • Supports the maintenance of the organization's ongoing Lean journey
  • Challenges project team members and employees to identify, remove and resolve constraints that prevent the team from fulfilling commitments
  • Maintains level of standards of lean tools used among project teams or within the organization
  • Identifies new and innovative ways to implement Lean tools and methodologies
  • Utilizes current training materials and customizes to specific assigned customer
  • Looks for opportunities to improve current training materials
  • Serves as an ongoing resource for assigned projects and employees to help identify opportunities for improvement using quantitative and qualitative information
  • Supports and participates in data collection and analysis analyzing the effectiveness of lean programs
  • Participates in monthly meetings with assigned region leadership
  • Supports weekly Friday Lean Huddles in the region

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:
  • Acts as an advisor on Lean tools for assigned projects and employees. Supports increasingly complex situations and questions
  • Assumes responsibility on smaller scale or less complex projects to introduce Lean tools and methodology to project teams
  • Implements team member training on basic lean tools
  • Assumes ownership over portions of customer-specific training materials including creating recommendations to assigned Lean leadership
  • Implements internally developed lean programs and processes
  • Facilitates internal lean client team engagement activities within project teams

Education
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered

Experience
  • 2+ years construction operations or Lean experience (Required)
  • 0-2 years experience in meeting or group facilitation (Preferred)

Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
  • May require extensive periods of overnight travel
  • Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
