Description
Blend Air Mechanical, an Encon Company has been serving Rockland County with expert heating, cooling, and plumbing services since 1984. We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as HVAC and Plumbing Apprentices. This is an excellent opportunity to receive paid training and hands-on mentorship while building a long-term career in the skilled trades.
As an Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians to assist with installations, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You will gain valuable technical skills while learning industry standards, safety procedures, and customer service best practices. Below are the responsibilities whether you are a plumbing or hvac apprentice.
HVAC Responsibilities:
Service
  • Assist with diagnosing and resolving heating and cooling system issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance, including filter changes, belt inspections, and coil cleaning.
  • Complete work orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Participate in emergency service calls during on-duty hours.
Installation
  • Assist with interpreting blueprints and understanding ductwork layouts.
  • Support new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Learn and follow SMACNA standards for ductwork installation.
  • Help install and replace HVAC equipment and related components.

OR
Plumbing Responsibilities:
  • Assist with plumbing repairs and installations, including kitchens, bathrooms, gas lines, and waterlines.
  • Help install and repair standard and tankless water heaters.
  • Assist with tub, shower, toilet, and faucet installations.
  • Support leak detection and plumbing diagnostics.
  • Help repair and maintain pool heating systems.
  • Ensure work complies with local plumbing codes and safety standards.

General responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Accurately document work performed.
  • Learn industry best practices and new technologies.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Strong interest in learning the HVAC and/or Plumbing trade.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools under supervision.

  • Willingness to learn to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and on rooftops.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
