The Role

Are you the type of person who enjoys solving puzzles and working outdoors? We are seeking a precision-oriented Utility Locator & Leak Detection Technician to join our team in Westchester, NY. In this role, you won’t just be "marking lines"—you’ll be the first line of defense in protecting critical infrastructure and preventing property damage.

From the historic neighborhoods of White Plains to the commercial hubs of Yonkers, you will use high-tech electromagnetic and acoustic equipment to identify underground utilities and pinpoint hidden water leaks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utility Mapping: Perform accurate locates for underground telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer lines using electromagnetic induction and GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar).
  • Leak Detection: Utilize acoustic sensors, correlation equipment, and thermal imaging to identify sub-surface water leaks in residential and commercial systems.
  • Quality Documentation: Create detailed digital sketches and reports of findings via mobile tablets.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all markings comply with NY 811 (Excavator’s Guide) standards and company safety protocols.
  • Client Interaction: Act as a professional point of contact for homeowners, contractors, and municipal engineers.

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in utility locating or plumbing/leak detection.
  • Technical Savvy: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, utility maps, and GIS data.
  • Physical Stamina: Comfort working outdoors in all Westchester weather conditions (sun, snow, or rain) and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Clear Record: A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Certification: Staking University or NULCA certification is a major plus, but not required.
