Job Summary:
MDAEdge is seeking a Principal SQL Developer to provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise data platforms for a public sector healthcare finance environment. The role involves translating complex business requirements into scalable data solutions and leading the architecture for relational and cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Lead end‐to‐end data architecture for relational and cloud platforms, including schema design, indexing strategies, and data integrity.
• Own performance tuning for complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database configurations in high‐volume environments.
• Architect, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from diverse sources into data warehouses and downstream stores.
• Define and govern data modeling standards, design practices, tools, and development lifecycle processes.
• Enforce database security, access controls, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery aligned to regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
• Proactively monitor databases, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement permanent fixes to minimize downtime.
• Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation for architectures, pipelines, standards, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring for SQL developers and data engineers.
• Partner with senior leadership, application teams, data science, and business stakeholders to align data strategies and roadmaps.
• Create implementation, testing, and integration plans for new platforms, features, and migrations.
• Lead adoption of advanced data technologies and platforms to maximize IT investment and value.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years leading advanced technology or service projects with full systems engineering lifecycle exposure.
• 6+ years creating implementation, integration, test plans, and training materials.
• Deep expertise with major DBMS platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and advanced T‐SQL/PL/SQL.
• Strong experience delivering analytics platforms and enterprise apps using SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Python, and DAX.
• Hands‐on data modeling (dimensional/star/snowflake), ETL tools (SSIS/Informatica), and cloud data platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
• Solid knowledge of database architecture, high availability (clustering/replication), and capacity planning.
• Senior‐level understanding of healthcare management systems and experience engaging senior executives.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred:
• Master's degree in CS, IT, data, or related field.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
• Experience with Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) and DevOps practices.
