Job Description

We are currently hiring for a Software Engineer to work with our TacCIS Solutions team.  We're developing cutting-edge intercom and networking systems for military vehicles, retrofitting them with the latest in battlefield communication tech. Our products integrate into advanced platform solutions, keeping troops connected and mission-ready. In this role you will write code for ARM processors and microprocessors—think Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or Odroid—but engineered to military-grade standards. You will work in an Agile setting so that means taking part in Scrum events, Sprint Planning, Reviews and Retrospectives.  We provide a true hybrid working environment with flexibility. Ideally you are someone who enjoys working in a lab environment also. 

Your day to day:

  • Assisting and supporting lead engineers and team members
  • Performing design and/or analysis functions
  • Documenting the analysis, design and test in accordance with development standards
  • Implementing software to meet the requirements
  • Developing and performing tests and debugging of code
  • Identifying defects, resolving issues and verifying changes
  • Supporting and performing system level test and integration efforts
  • Participating in code reviews
  • Participating in Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
  • Verifying completed tasks meet the Definition of Done and the Acceptance Criteria
  • Write software requirements based on System level requirements and design documents
  • Expand knowledge of latest technologies, products and market trends relevant to area of work
  • Performing related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 1 – 3 years of related experience
  • Experience working on software development projects
  • Experience using a variety of programming languages depending on the applicable work assignments such as C#, Java, or C++
  • Experience with software engineering processes and tools
  • Enthusiastic contributor, willingness to learn new skills and takes on ownership of work
  • Knowledge of design patterns
  • Knowledge of Software Engineering principles
  • Experience with any of the following development tools is desirable:
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Code Collaborator
  • Rational Team Concert (RTC)

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.


Additional Information

The hiring range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. Our goal is to provide a fair and competitive offer based on an assessment of internal equity and your qualifications, including:
