Lead Registered Nurse - Lubbock, Texas

Position Summary

The Lead Registered Nurse provides clinical oversight and leadership to RNs, LVNs, contract nurses, and nursing staff within assigned territories. This role ensures quality nursing care, compliance with state regulations, and continuity of care while supporting and mentoring nursing teams.

Working closely with the Regional RN Director, the Lead RN helps implement nursing systems, policies, and procedures that promote excellence in care delivery and positive health outcomes for the individuals we serve.

What You'll Do

Clinical Leadership & Oversight
  • Supervise and support nursing staff across assigned areas
  • Monitor health conditions through chart reviews, audits, and clinical assessments
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, company policies, and nursing standards
  • Identify service delays and implement corrective actions
  • Provide guidance on emergency nursing concerns and critical health changes
  • Assist with Plans of Correction (POCs) and quality improvement initiatives
Training & Staff Development
  • Mentor, coach, and train nursing staff through in-person and virtual support
  • Conduct follow-up training and clinical in-services based on findings
  • Support onboarding and ongoing development of nursing personnel
  • Coordinate nursing assignments and caseloads while maintaining quality care standards
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure timely documentation in Texas EHR (TMP), SDLs, and Nurses Notes
  • Review billing practices and provide education on HCS billing expectations
  • Monitor nurse billing rates and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in surveys, investigations, recertifications, and corrective action plans
Direct Clinical Support
  • Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and annual reviews
  • Provide delegation services in compliance with Board of Nurse Examiners criteria
  • Assist with direct nursing coverage when needed
  • Participate in on-call nursing support and telephone triage as assigned

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Current RN license in the state of Texas
  • Strong clinical assessment and leadership skills
  • Experience supervising or mentoring nursing staff preferred
  • Knowledge of HCS, waiver services, and Texas nursing regulations preferred
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining compassionate care
