Job Description

The Lead LPN coordinates the day-to-day patient flow as part of a healthcare team byassistingin planning and implementing care interventions while promoting high quality patient care in a professional,efficientand safe manner.Assistsin the planning and implementation of interventions to ensure evidence-based practices are being adhered to.Directs the team member as neededin order tosupport andmaintainhigh-quality patient care.LeadLPN works closely with providers, supervisors, supportstaffand other members of the organization to ensure a seamless workflow. Effectively communicates with all team members to support a cohesive work environment.

The Lead LPN in the Urgent Care department will:

  • Work collaboratively with the department managers to ensure compliance with the Urgent Care Association of America (UCA) standards and guidelines.

  • Assistwith the training and orientation ofnew staff.They willassistwith problem solving daily issues andbringto the management team, if needed.

  • Isexpected to keep relevant knowledge up to date and apply it to everyday practice.

Hours:Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

Urgent Care (UC) is a multi-faceted department with staff working in various locations toachieve similar departmental goals.The LeadLPN works collaboratively with all team membersto:

  • Facilitate a 5-star patient experience by displaying we areSummit Health

  • Serve as a department liaison and resource point person

  • Assistwith the oversight of the COVID-19 testing workflow

  • Assistwith the training and orientation ofnew staff, including but not limited to annual competencies and lab training

  • Troubleshoot lab errors and missing specimen issues.Assistin monitoring/coordinating courier pickup schedules

  • Participate in monitoring site inventory and supply needs, placing orders if needed and troubleshooting purchasing issues

  • Assistin reviewing lablogbooksand emergency cart books

  • Perform clinical duties when needed to cover staffing shortages

  • Assistwith reviewing department reports such as pending status, missing charges, UC to ED transfers,etc.

  • Assistwith chart reviews as needed tomonitordocumentation and department goals

  • Assistwith completingTelmedIQprovider schedules

  • Assistwith completing clinical competencies

  • Maintain department forms/handouts at each site

  • Assistwith other duties as assigned within their scope of practice

GENERAL QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Graduate ofaLPN school program

  • Current NYS Licensure as an LPN

  • Required to obtain CT Licensure within 3 months of hire.

  • Requiredto provide evidence that you have applied for LPN CT Licensure within a month of hire.

  • MustmaintainCT and NY LPNlicense.

  • BLS Certified;requiredupon hire.

  • IVandorPhlebotomy skills preferred.

  • Competency skill checklist expected to be completed withinfirst3 months.

  • Ability to work in all 6 UCC locations if needed.
