We are looking for a Lead Inspector for our Amherst, NY facility. In this role you will oversee all activities and interactions of Inspectors within the manufacturing system to ensure Oerlikon's productivity and quality goals are met. Plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures along with improvement recommendations from production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Your Responsibilities:
โ€ข Oversight of all fundamental lab operations for equipment, supply, outputs, etc.
โ€ข Train inspectors in Quality procedures
โ€ข Weekly meeting with Center Core team (Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Quality, Service, others)
โ€ข Oversee and assist with inspectors' daily activities
โ€ข Support inspection and testing when required
โ€ข Perform investigations regarding non-conformances in quality; make recommendations for permanent corrective actions.
โ€ข Identify continuous improvements in area of responsibility
โ€ข Ensures effective employee relations through communication and strong teamwork leadership
โ€ข Demonstrate strong and consistent support for workplace safety, especially with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and procedures. Set the example by supporting initiatives, actively engaging every inspector in Oerlikon's safety culture, and exceeding Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) objectives.
โ€ข Supports Quality Management System in maintaining ISO 9001 standard requirements
โ€ข Enforces area housekeeping standards.
โ€ข Other responsibilities as assigned
Your Profile:
โ€ข Associate's degree preferably in Quality or Material Science (equivalent experience may substitute)
โ€ข 2+ years of experience in a Inspection role within a manufacturing and/or production environment
โ€ข 1+ year of experience implementing and executing ISO 9001:2015 standard is required
โ€ข Experience using MS Office (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel is required
โ€ข Ability to effectively use problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, Pareto charts, run and control charts, cause and effect diagrams as well as 8D (or a similar problem-solving discipline)
โ€ข Effective verbal /writing skills and strong presentation skills
โ€ข Must be energetic, goal-driven, result-oriented, and high-energy to be effective in this role.
โ€ข The employee may be required to lift, stack, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 44 pounds.

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $26.65 to $39.98 per hour. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
