Job Title: Materials Research & Formulation Scientist
Role Overview
We are seeking a Materials Research & Formulation Scientist to join our R&D team in developing innovative chemical materials for high-performance applications. You will be at the center of the product development lifecycle, translating theoretical concepts into commercialized solutions through rigorous experimentation, formulation, and data-driven investigation.
This is a "bench-to-market" role. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex material challenges, improve product performance, and drive technical innovation. If you are a methodical scientist who enjoys the challenge of understanding structure-property-function relationships and wants to see your research move from the laboratory to industrial application, this is an excellent opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Investigation & Development
• Experimental Rigor: Design and conduct theoretical and experimental investigations to support the creation of new materials. Perform analytical, investigative, and fact-finding activities to push our product technology forward.
• Formulation & Synthesis: Develop new formulations and optimize existing material properties. Use your technical expertise to troubleshoot development challenges and accelerate the pace of innovation.
• Documentation & Intellectual Property: Prepare detailed technical reports, experimental protocols, and quantitative analyses. Contribute to patent disclosures and documentation that codify our scientific advancements.
Collaboration & Commercialization
• Cross-Functional Partnerships: Collaborate with development engineering and commercial teams to drive products through the entire lifecycle-from concept validation through scale-up and final commercial launch.
• Root Cause Investigation: Lead technical troubleshooting and root cause investigations (RCI) to resolve performance or material issues in an accelerated development environment.
• Laboratory Leadership: Maintain a best-in-class, safe laboratory environment. Contribute to a collaborative culture focused on continuous learning and peer-reviewed technical excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Experience Baseline: Demonstrated experience in materials science, chemical synthesis, formulation, or product development.
• Technical Aptitude: Proven record of success in a research or laboratory setting. Ability to interpret data and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Safety & Ethics: Unwavering commitment to laboratory safety protocols and data integrity.
• Status: Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.
Preferred Attributes
• Experience with specialized coatings, thin-film research, or high-purity chemical processing.
• Proficiency in computational modeling, scientific computing, or advanced data management tools.
• Experience supporting the transition of research technologies into manufacturing or commercial-scale production.
