Job description

The Lead Product Engineer for the Recloser Control Customization team will join a fast-paced group that provides direct support for external customers requiring customized 651R-2, 651RA, 351R-4 and 351RS products, as well as internal technical support for projects that improve the product line as a whole. This team member will be the Technical Lead for all customization projects, and they will provide technical expertise and mentorship for the team that supports this rapidly growing product line. A typical day as a Lead Product Engineer may include:

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of specific product line(s), product applications, competition, and markets.

  • Serve as primary technical contact to sales, marketing, operations, and others as required for in-service product support.

  • Work with Application Engineers, Product Managers, other Product Engineers, and Manufacturing personnel to develop customized recloser controls solutions to meet customer needs. Validate product requirements, functionality, and features.

  • Approve new customproduct developments and associated documentation

  • Serve as interface between Manufacturing and R&D groups for product development.

  • Participate in industry technical meetings and conferences. Prepare and present technical product presentations.

  • Maintain an end user system operational understanding of how specific technology families are used and have a clear understanding of the functional priority.

  • Assist with developing and creating concept documents or drawings associated with new product ideas to be developed.

  • Provide product line training to Field Application Engineers.

  • Drive process improvement projects as assigned.

This job may be for you if you have:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 6+ years of experience and working knowledge of electrical power systems or industrial system integration and automation practices and philosophies

  • 4+ years of technical marketing experience

  • Excellent technical and marketing presentation skills

  • Knowledge of product life cycle planning and marketing position

  • Willing to travel up to 25%

  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

It would be nice if you have:

  • Project management and/or project technical leadership

  • Experience with electric utility relay and telecommunications

  • Specifying graphical user interface
