SEO Content Writer & Strategist - Elkins Park, Hybrid

Job description

ABOUT NEXVEL SOLUTIONS
At Nexvel, we believe local businesses deserve better: better websites, better tools, better strategy. For over 10 years, we've brought the latest technology to the local level, helping businesses compete and win in a digital-first world.
We serve some of the Greater Philadelphia region's most recognized local brands across industries like home services, healthcare, and legal, building modern websites, web apps, and digital experiences that actually move the needle.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a versatile SEO content writer and strategist who understands local SEO, not just someone who writes well, but someone who knows how a page earns rankings and drives leads, can adapt their voice across very different industries, and can help decide what content to create in the first place. One week you might write for a roofer, the next plan a blog calendar for a dental practice or map out service pages for a law firm. You'll both produce content (homepages, service pages, location pages, blog posts) and help shape strategy - topic clusters, editorial calendars, and content-gap analysis - working from briefs and keyword targets we provide and helping develop them. As we expand into new industries, strategic thinking and adaptability matter as much as writing skill. This is ongoing freelance work with steady volume and room to grow as our client base expands - we're looking for a long-term collaborator, not a one-off.
WHAT YOU'LL DO - SEO CONTENT WRITER
  • Write SEO-optimized web pages: homepages, service pages, and location/service-area pages
  • Write both short-form and long-form content - concise, conversion-focused pages (homepages, service pages, meta) and in-depth long-form pieces (blog posts, guides, pillar articles)
  • Turn a content brief (target keyword, audience, key points) into copy that reads naturally and ranks
  • Structure content with proper heading hierarchy (one H1, logical H2/H3s) and on-page SEO fundamentals
  • Adapt your voice to each client and industry - plain-spoken and trustworthy for a contractor, warm and reassuring for a dental practice, credible and precise for a law firm
  • Help develop content strategy - map topic clusters, plan editorial/blog calendars, and run content-gap analysis to decide what each client should publish and in what order
  • Recommend what to create and why - tie content to search intent, the customer journey, and the client's business goals
  • Interview clients to gather source material - we start each client with a questionnaire, then interview them to go deeper; you'll help lead those conversations to pull out their expertise, story, and authentic voice, and turn it into content
  • Research an unfamiliar industry quickly and write about it with authority and accuracy
  • Write locally-relevant content (neighborhoods, regional specifics) without thin, templated "doorway" pages
  • Draft meta titles, meta descriptions, and FAQ sections built for featured snippets / AI search
  • Revise based on feedback and hit deadlines consistently

Requirements
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - SEO CONTENT WRITER
  • 3+ years in SEO content writing, including hands-on experience developing content strategy - not just executing briefs handed to you
  • Proven ability to plan content, not just write it - topic clusters, editorial calendars, prioritizing what to create and why (examples or case studies welcome)
  • Solid grasp of local SEO: keyword intent, service x location page strategy, internal linking, heading structure
  • Fluent with AI writing tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) - you use them for ideas and self-check faster, while applying your own SEO judgment, fact-checking, and brand-voice editing. We want someone who directs and verifies AI, not someone who publishes raw AI output.
  • Versatility across industries and voices - you can write convincingly for a roofer, a dentist, and a law firm in the same week, and pick up new industries fast. This is one of the most important things we're hiring for.
  • Comfortable with both short-form and long-form - the concision to make a homepage punchy and convert, and the structure and stamina to keep a 1,500+ word guide organized and engaging
  • Clear, jargon-free writing; strong self-editing; excellent grammar
  • Reliable communicator who works well from a brief and meets deadlines
  • Comfortable interviewing clients - you can get a busy business owner talking, ask sharp follow-up questions, and translate what they say into content and brand voice. Professional and personable mostly on calls or video chats
  • Strong keyword and topic research - you can build out a keyword/topic plan for a client, not just write around a target we hand you (Ahrefs/SEMrush/Google Keyword Planner)
  • Local to the Elkins Park, PA area and able to come into our office roughly once a week to collaborate

NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience writing across multiple industries (any mix of home services, dental/medical, legal, or other local/professional services)
  • Awareness of regulated-industry considerations (medical and legal content held to higher accuracy and trust standards)
  • Familiarity with schema/structured data concepts (you don't have to code it, just understand it)

Benefits
DETAILS
  • Location: Elkins Park, PA - hybrid. Mostly remote, with roughly one collaborative day in our office each week.
  • Type: Freelance / independent contractor (1099), hourly
  • Compensation: $23-$28/hour, depending on experience (reflects the combined writing + content-strategy scope)
  • Hours: ~10-20 hours/week to start
  • Typical turnaround: a standard page within 2-3 business days
  • Start: Immediately
  • Flexible schedule
  • Deliverables: You write in Google Docs and hand off to our team to publish (all our client sites are on WordPress - you write the content, we handle the upload)
  • Project management: We run projects and assignments through Monday.com
  • Time tracking: All hours must be tracked using Hubstaff - this is required for the role
  • Invoicing: Bi-weekly

HOW TO APPLY
Please apply with your resume and a brief cover letter explaining your experience in content writing. Also include 2-3 writing samples - ideally web pages you've written, and bonus points if they show range across different industries or brand voices (links or attachments).
