The Mental Health Therapist will provide individual counseling services for The Modalities Group (TMG) patients. Working in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, patients, and other health care professionals, the Mental Health Therapist will share expertise and knowledge of mental health care issues, focusing on prevention-oriented therapy.

Requirements:

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish open lines of communication for individuals with mental or emotional issues.
  • Offer assistance to individuals with substance abuse issues and mental health disorders while building relationships of trust so that they are better able to navigate through and overcome their challenges to achieve life goals, balance and quality.
  • Wisely conduct patient assessments, coordinate required services, and implement/review treatment plans for patient’s positive behavior changes.
  • Document patient activity (incl. diagnostic findings, clinical evaluations, and treatment recommendations) and complete on time.
  • Collaborate with additional community sources and placement agencies to help patients receive quick treatment responses.

Summary of Qualifications (Required: Education and Experience)

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • One of the following license is required: LGPC, LGSW, LMSW, LCPC, LCSW-C, LMFT, or LCAD.
  • State Licenses in MD and/or DC are essential.
  • 1-year minimum of clinical counseling work experience, or in a mental health counseling-related field.
  • Ability to speak other languages, is considered an asset (i.e. Spanish).
  • Experience working with trauma, grief, couples, children and family is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain a minimum of 12 client sessions per week, as contractual/fee-for-service mental health therapist (fulltime case loads up to 30+ clients per week is optional).
