This Opportunity
Be involved in projects, clients, and our team in the California's Transportation Business Line. WSP is looking for a Senior Vice President, Orange County/Southern California Local Business Line Leader (LBL). The candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with teams within our Irvine, Inland Empire, and Los Angeles offices. The candidate will play a strategic leadership role in the California Region as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation and Infrastructure practice, promote collaboration and focus on expanding our regional and local talent and team, and drive solutions in support of our clients, and communities.
WSP is playing a critical role in growth and development throughout the robust market in the state of California with focus on public agencies in Southern California such as Caltrans, Metrolink/SCRRA, Orange County Transportation Authority, Southern California Association of Governments, Transportation Corridor Agencies, County of Orange, and other major municipal and transportation agencies in Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernadino County. The Orange County/Southern California LBL will work in close collaboration with Transportation's Los Angeles Local Business Leader to advance strategic business development, client engagement, and support a robust team of technical practitioners and professionals.
The LBL role is key in leveraging cross collaboration with other WSP business lines such as Advisory and Planning, Property and Buildings (P&B), Energy, Water, Federal, Advisory Services, and Transportation and Infrastructure to bring value to our clients. The Local Business Leader is an integral member of the California Region and Transportation leadership team and drives operational performance and growth while enabling WSP to be the preferred and trusted choice for clients, employees, and partners.
The Local Business Line Leader will maintain an elevated external presence in representing the Transportation Business Line and regional leadership within Southern California and bring regional and national expertise to support growing the business to meet annual goals and long-term strategic objectives. The LBL is empowered to oversee operational performance, mastering internal dynamics of the business to ensure that deployment of resources advances business objectives; and assist in the project delivery as well as the development and implementation of the California Region's marketing and business growth strategies. The candidate will provide coordinated leadership with other local and national business line leaders for the pursuit of all WSP services, with a particular eye towards transportation infrastructure focused highway, bridge, roadway corridor, transit and rail, tolling and mobility solutions, aviation, and multi-modal opportunities to further grow the WSP business.

  • Drives performance of the transportation business and strategically grows our market share to fulfill our goal that WSP become the preferred, trusted advisor to our clients.
  • Manages local client coordination and cross-selling efforts in coordination with regional leadership, the national business lines, and pursuit management.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with a college degree or equivalent experience in the A/E/C industry with a strong focus in transportation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, or related discipline.
  • Located in Southern California (preferred Orange County/Irvine)
  • Ability to travel between Southern California offices (e.g. Irvine, Riverside, Los Angeles)
  • Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and growth.
  • Ability to innovate and re-think the conventional approach to client and employee engagement.
  • Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes.
  • Sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice.
  • Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the local area.
  • Commitment to internal and external client service.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $240,000 - $353,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
