The Opportunity
At JBT Marel, we're looking for a Layout Engineer. You will be responsible for creating optimal solutions for integrated projects and preparing layouts with item lists for the sales process based on the customer need. As a Layout Engineer you are designing production systems, including the interfaces within the system and with the environment (users, building, auxiliary equipment and other needs). The size of the projects varies from a single machine, full line to a complete factory. Secure the technical and technological integrity of solutions. Support project engineering during the engineering phase in the Sales delivery process. The Layout Engineer has ownership for the order layout and takes care of the proper handover to the Project Engineer.
This position is located within Gainesville, GA .
Responsibilities:
Main Tasks
  • Analyze customer requirements from Sales or support sales in gathering these
  • Design the optimal layout solution for the customer
  • Provide input for ROI calculation/feasibility studies
  • Secure the technical and technological integrity of the proposed solution
  • Create a system description when needed
  • Transfer information about the solution to relevant functions in accordance with the Market to
  • Order process, e.g. making a correct quotation for scope and price for the customer and according the relevant standards
  • Identify specials, missing solutions or missing standards in the portfolio and communicate them to Innovation and/or Sales
  • Network with other internal groups to obtain the best solutions
  • Verification of the on-site conditions to ensure the correct layout design
  • Present and explain the chosen solution to internal/external customers
  • Hand over the customer order specifics to Order Engineering
  • End-to-end responsibility for the solution until the finalization of the order

Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with or knowledge of CAD design tools or ability to learn on the job
  • Ability to work with an interdepartmental team to best utilize all available resources
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, work well under time constraints and with possible production setbacks
  • Strong communication skills; work with customers and co-workers in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Ability to work independently, as well as being a team member
  • Ability to deliver results and meet customers' expectations

Education, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering preferred or Higher education in a technical field with comparable experience and knowledge of process technology
  • Knowledge of relevant production technics, materials and components
  • Experience with or knowledge of CAD design tools or ability to learn on the job
  • Strong English skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with and comfort working in multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization is an advantage
  • Experience with plant automation equipment is an advantage
  • Knowledge of the food processing industry requirements is an advantage

Travel & Location
  • This is a Hybrid role with up to 10% Travel.
