Job description

We are seeking an energetic, driven Layout Technician to spearhead our commercial concrete layout operations. In this role, you will take full ownership of the job site layout process and lead a small, dedicated team of layout employees. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong leadership qualities, and brings advanced technical expertise in modern surveying equipment and coordinate mapping.


Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Setup: Establish and verify site control points, datums, and benchmarks daily.
  • Robotic Total Station Operation: Execute precise field layouts using Trimble, Topcon, or Leica robotic total stations.
  • Coordinate Mapping: Import, create, and manage digital coordinate point maps from structural blueprints and CAD files.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, train, and motivate a small crew of layout assistants to ensure daily production targets are met.
  • Quality Control: Verify elevations, gridlines, forms, and anchor bolt placements to guarantee zero-defect concrete pours.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to resolve blueprint discrepancies before construction begins.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in commercial concrete layout or construction surveying.
  • Proven proficiency with robotic total stations and data collectors.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and extract data from complex structural and architectural blueprints.
  • Experience with layout software (e.g., Autodesk, Trimble Field Link) to build point files.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential or experience managing a small field crew.
