Job description

Entry-Level Position Available (Summer 2027)
Title: Field Engineer Intern
Reports to: Superintendent
Summary of Position: The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the Superintendent and project team in all aspects of job planning, scheduling, safety and quality control, project documentation, developing and maintaining excellent relationships, budgeting, and cost control. He/she will also be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with managing field employees and focusing on maintaining excellent customer relationships.
Typical Duties:
  • Create and manage daily reports
  • Manage QA/QC paperwork/tracking
  • Review plans and specifications and coordinate between design disciplines
  • Develop, track, and maintain job schedule and labor requirements
  • Review estimates and subcontractor scopes
  • Identify long lead items
  • Identify special safety requirements and weather requirements
  • Schedule and coordinate subs
  • Maintain as-built drawings
  • Layout/surveying
  • RFI development
  • Verify and follow up on permit requirements and required inspections
  • Identify and resolve issues that affect schedule
  • Work with Safety Managers on all safety aspects
  • Know and meet or exceed client's expectations
  • Maintain appropriate jobsite conduct for Blach Construction and all trades
  • Manage all appropriate documentation including permits and drawings
  • Maintain excellent relationships with owners, architects, agencies, subcontractors, and other Blach employees
  • Monitor labor and materials costs on a weekly basis
  • Review subcontractor billings with PM for verification
  • Review schedule and overall job progress on a monthly basis for cost analysis, including Blach materials

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train and educate others
  • Solid computer skills, especially the Microsoft Office suite, scheduling software (MS Project, P6, or Suretrak), and exposure to project management software (CMiC or similar program)
  • Proactive, takes initiative on all projects, possesses a willingness to learn and develop in their professional career
  • Problem solver, solutions-oriented

Location: Northern California (Bay Area)
Position Status: Summer intern, regular business hours (40 hours a week), non-exempt
