Layaway Associate information

What is a layaway associate?

Layaway Associates are retail employees who assist customers with layaway purchases, a service where customers can reserve items by making a deposit and paying the balance over time before taking the merchandise home. Their responsibilities typically include setting up layaway accounts, processing payments, retrieving and storing items, and answering customer questions about layaway policies. They also ensure that all transactions comply with store procedures and help resolve any issues related to layaway orders. Layaway Associates play a key role in providing excellent customer service and helping customers manage their purchases.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a layaway associate?

To thrive as a Layaway Associate, you need strong customer service abilities, attention to detail, and basic math skills, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, layaway tracking software, and inventory management tools is often required. Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help in addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues efficiently. These skills ensure accurate transaction processing, effective customer interactions, and smooth management of layaway accounts.

How does a layaway associate typically interact with other departments within a retail store?
