Job description

Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health ("Bienvivir") is a community-based, patient-centered, comprehensive health care delivery system that advocates and promotes quality of life, optimum independence, dignity, and choices in a nurturing environment for frail seniors. Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly ("PACE").

PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.

Laundry Processor

Performs a variety of duties primarily related to the receiving, handling, and sorting of soiled linens within an elderly daycare setting. Responsibilities include emptying soiled laundry bags, sorting linen, and placing items into appropriate designated containers. In addition to laundry functions, the position supports daily daycare operations by helping maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for elderly participants and assisting staff as needed to ensure comfort, dignity, and quality care. Services include but are not limited to passing food trays, passing arts/crafts, exercises, social activities, walking/escorting participants. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:
Laundry Operations

1. Collects soiled linens from designated areas following facility schedules.
2. Sorts linens by type, fabric, and level of contamination.
3. Loads and operates commercial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
4. Folds, labels, and distributes clean linens and participant clothing accurately.
5. Inspects linens for damage and removes torn or heavily stained items from circulation.

Infection Control
1. Handles soiled linens using Standard Precautions and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
2. Separates soiled laundry.
3. Operates washers and dryers at temperatures and chemical concentrations.
4. Ensures clean and soiled linen areas remain physically separated to prevent crosscontamination.
5. Immediately reports unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or infection control concerns to supervisor.

Safety & Equipment Use
1. Operates laundry machinery.
2. Use proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
3. Maintains a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
4. Reports work orders to the Adult Daycare Manager. 
5. Participates in required in-service training, including infection control, HIPAA awareness, and emergency preparedness.

Documentation & Quality Assurance
1. Maintains laundry logs.
2. Assists in quality monitoring activities related to linen services.
3. Supports facility surveys and inspections.

Daycare Operation 
1. Distribute meals and assist participants with feeding as needed. 
2. Provide reassurance, encouragement, and support to the participants. 
3. Motivate participants to maximize involvement with program activities and to increase independence according to the individual's abilities. 
4. Assist with loading and unloading participants on/off the van during their arrival and departure from the center in a safe manner. 
5. Assist Activity Coordinator to carry out daily recreational activities. (Recreational/Physical Activities, Arts & Crafts, Social/Educational activities, entertainment activities. 
6. Adhere to all Bienvivir policies and procedures. 
7. Assist with all emergency evacuation activities as assigned. 
8. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: 
1. High school diploma or high school equivalency.
2. Previous laundry or environmental services experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
3. One year of experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred 
4. CPR certified 
5. Food Handlers Card
