Position Title Laundry Worker  Purpose of this positionThe purpose of this position is to implement laundry procedures in order to operate the laundry department in a cost-effective, efficient manner and to safely meet resident needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Delegation of authorityAuthority is delegated to the individual in this position to:· Implement laundry procedures to meet resident needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.· Participate in the monitoring system for the laundry department.· Notify the supervisor when supplies are needed.· Notify the supervisor when equipment needs repair.· Notify the supervisor when linen and resident clothing need repair.This position reports to: Laundry Supervisor1. Follow oral and written instructions. 2. Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS)/safety data sheets (SDS). 3. Follow schedules for the laundry department. 4. Follow laundry procedures in accordance with facility policy. 5. Ironing duties as assigned. 6. Follow waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy. 7. Properly use and care for laundry equipment. 8. Adjust water temperature valves to maintain required temperatures. 9. Use laundry supplies properly. 10. Operate automated laundry solution dispensing system. 11. Handle clean and soiled laundry appropriately. 12. Identify and report garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor. 13. Distribute clothing to resident rooms in accordance with the theft loss program. 14. Identify and report to supervisor any equipment malfunction. 15. Identify and report to supervisor areas in poor repair. 16. Follow infection control procedures through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garments and linens. 17. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner. 18. Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times. 19. Follow Resident Rights policies at all times. 20. Observe all facility policies and procedures. 21. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner. 22. Assume accountability for all data contained in the employee handbook. 23. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor. 24. Report for work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance. 25. Report for work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. 26. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers. 27. Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing supervision when performing routine assignments in resident living areas. 28. Agree not to disclose residents' protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the supervisor. 29. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. Report such occurrences for the shift they occur. 30. Report suspected resident abuse immediately to the Administrator.
