LAUNDRY AIDE
Job Description:
To provide a supply of clean, disinfected linens for use in the home at all times. To keep linens and clothing washed daily. To keep residents' clothing clean washed in a manner, which will preserve color and fabric. To keep linens dried, folded and stored in designate areas. To keep laundry area and equipment clean.
May be required to perform tasks that involve exposure to visible blood contamination or reasonably anticipated blood contamination. Must be knowledgeable about OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and Grace Living Centers Exposure Control Plan for Bloodborne Pathogens. Must follow the required procedure for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials and the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or body fluids containing blood. Laundry aides report to Environmental Service Supervisor.
Essential Job Duties:
โ€ข May be required to handle heavy loads. Must be able to lift, push, and carry 40 pounds with 2 hands. Must also be able to lift, push, and carry 20 pounds with 1 hand.
โ€ข Must comply with Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Policy when applicable.
โ€ข Must be able to work in hot and damp environment.
โ€ข Must work with various cleaning chemicals and solutions. Must comply with EPA and OSHA regulations and other safety policies of Grace Living Centers.
โ€ข Must be qualified to operate various laundry equipment safely and properly.
โ€ข Full responsibility of laundry service.
โ€ข Take wash water temperature and record it on daily basis.
โ€ข Keep separate linen carts for transporting of soiled and clean linens.
โ€ข Keep contaminated linens that have been removed from beds of patients who have a possible infectious condition in separate double bags, plainly marked. Launder and disinfect separately.
โ€ข Use germicidal agents and bleaching agents on all linens.
โ€ข Keep equipment and laundry area clean.
โ€ข Report repairs and equipment problems immediately to Environmental service supervisor.
โ€ข Report needed supplies to Environmental service supervisor
before running out.
โ€ข Clean linen shall be dried, folded, and stored in linen closets in designated areas by designated persons.
โ€ข Report grievances to Environmental service supervisor and or to Administrator.
โ€ข Return all cleaned personal clothing items back to the proper resident's clothing closet or dresser
Qualifications & Education:
โ€ข Must demonstrate a moderate level of computer literacy in order to use and access our systems and tools within our facilities to complete online tasks and documentation.
โ€ข Must be able to effectively communicate and interact professionally with staff and residents.
โ€ข Must be able to read/write and understand English.
โ€ข Knowledge of principles used in washing of linens and clothing.
โ€ข Know how to handle contaminated linen and clothing.
โ€ข Know how and what to use to disinfect.
โ€ข Neat and clean appearance.
โ€ข Must be cooperative.
โ€ข Must be in good health.
