Position: Home Care Aide
Location: Redlands, CA
Salary: Starting at $17 per hour
Status: Part-time
Job Summary
Home Care Aide provides various personal care and household assistance services in accordance with an established plan of care. Provides for the personal needs and comfort of individuals in their homes.
Duties
Adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
Performs work under management supervision.
Performs personal care activities contained in the care plan, which include but are not limited to assisting the individual with activities of daily living, such as:
  • Personal hygiene (assisting with bathroom or in using a bedpan or commode, bathing, grooming)
  • Ambulation
  • Eating
  • Dressing
  • Medication reminders
  • Meal preparation

The Home Care Aide will NOT perform any of the following:
  1. Sterile dressing change.
  2. Irrigation of body cavities such as enemas, colostomy or wounds.
  3. Gastric lavage or gavage.
  4. Catheterization.
  5. Injections or IV treatments.
  6. Naso-gastric or gastrostomy tube feedings or care.
  7. Tracheostomy tube care.
  8. Suctioning of the nose, mouth or tracheostomy.
  9. Nail care on individuals with diabetes or compromised circulation.
  10. Any personal health service that has not been included in the care plan.

The Home Care Aide performs light housekeeping tasks, which will facilitate the individual's self-care at home.
These tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Vacuuming
  • Dusting
  • Sweeping and mopping floors
  • Cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes
  • Laundry and making beds
  • Cleaning bathrooms

The Home Care Aide will NOT:
  • Perform heavy-duty household cleaning such as washing walls, waxing floors, washing windows, etc.
  • Perform household repairs or maintenance
  • Perform yard care or maintenance

The Home Care Aide may be responsible for documentation of the service provided, using the Client Care Record.
Working Conditions/Environment
Primarily works a certain number of hours in the individual's place of residence, with travel required. Shift times and days vary with the individual's needs.
The Agency cannot guarantee a certain number of employment hours in any given week. We cannot guarantee work close to your home or on a convenient public transit system.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Availability
  1. High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred.
  2. 1 year's experience as a Home Care Aide in homes or facilities, or equivalent.
  3. Read, write, speak and understand English.
  4. Have a valid driver's license and use of an insured automobile for work.
