Job description

Location: Chantilly, VA
Clearance: Active TS/SCI Required
U.S. Citizen requried OMNI is seeking a Satellite Subsystem Systems Engineer to support a high-priority national security space program. In this SETA role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to the Government Program Office, overseeing the development, integration, testing, and operational readiness of critical spacecraft subsystems throughout the system lifecycle. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with government leadership, prime contractors, and technical experts supporting advanced space systems that are vital to national security missions.
Key Responsibilities * Serve as the Government Program Office's focal point for assigned satellite subsystem development and operations activities.
  • Support spacecraft subsystem design, integration, test, verification, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Participate in contractor Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical reviews, and milestone events.
  • Review subsystem designs, test plans, test results, and verification evidence to ensure requirements compliance.
  • Partner with government and contractor engineers to identify technical risks, resolve issues, and improve mission performance.
  • Coordinate with SETA engineers, mission engineers, and subject matter experts to assess subsystem performance and mission impacts.
  • Monitor development progress, schedule execution, and technical maturity across the subsystem lifecycle.
  • Support launch readiness activities, integration and test campaigns, and satellite operational planning.
Develop technical assessments, briefings, and recommendations for government leadership. Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 14+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 12+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Strong systems engineering experience supporting spacecraft development, integration, testing, or operations.
Expertise in one or more satellite subsystems, including: Electrical Power Systems (EPS)
  • Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS)
  • Thermal Control Systems
  • Propulsion Systems
  • Command and Data Handling (C&DH)
  • Structures and Mechanisms
  • Experience supporting pre-launch integration, test, and spacecraft verification activities.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications 6+ years supporting DoD or Intelligence Community satellite programs as a developer, government employee, FFRDC member, or SETA contractor.
  • Experience supporting multiple spacecraft subsystems or satellite command and control (C2) operations.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes, requirements verification, and risk management.
  • Experience supporting spacecraft integration and test campaigns, launch operations, or on-orbit operations.
