What is the difference between Launch Logistics vs Supply Chain Coordinator?

AspectLaunch LogisticsSupply Chain Coordinator
CredentialsLogistics certifications, supply chain knowledgeSupply chain certifications, logistics understanding
Work EnvironmentProject-based, event-driven, fast-pacedOngoing supply chain management, office and warehouse
Industry UsageProduct launches, new project rolloutsInventory, procurement, distribution

Launch Logistics focuses on coordinating resources and activities for specific product launches or project rollouts, often in a temporary, fast-paced setting. Supply Chain Coordinators manage ongoing supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory, and distribution. While both roles require logistics knowledge and certifications, Launch Logistics emphasizes project-based execution, whereas Supply Chain Coordinators oversee continuous operations.

What are launch logistics?

Launch logistics refers to the planning, coordination, and management of all the resources, schedules, and activities required to successfully prepare and execute a rocket or spacecraft launch. This includes transporting hardware to the launch site, managing timelines, ensuring regulatory compliance, coordinating with suppliers and vendors, and overseeing safety and risk assessments. Launch logistics professionals work closely with engineers, project managers, and external agencies to ensure that all components arrive on time and in optimal condition, minimizing delays and maximizing mission success.

What are some common challenges faced in a Launch Logistics role, and how can I prepare to overcome them?

In a Launch Logistics role, one of the most common challenges is coordinating across multiple teams—including engineering, procurement, and operations—to ensure all components and personnel are ready on a tight schedule. Unexpected delays, last-minute changes, and strict regulatory requirements can also arise, requiring strong problem-solving skills and adaptability. To prepare, it's helpful to develop robust project management abilities, stay organized, and build clear communication channels with stakeholders. Familiarity with logistics software and an understanding of supply chain processes will also give you a strong foundation for success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Launch Logistics, and why are they important?

To thrive in Launch Logistics, you need strong organizational abilities, project management expertise, and a background in supply chain or logistics, often supported by a relevant bachelor's degree. Familiarity with logistics management software, inventory tracking systems, and certifications such as APICS or PMP is highly valuable. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for coordinating complex operations and responding to unexpected challenges. These skills ensure timely, efficient, and safe execution of launch activities, which are critical for mission success.

Job description

About CoLab
At CoLab, we help mechanical engineering teams bring life-changing products to market years sooner.
CoLab is the AI platform for driving stronger engineering decisions. Every design review in CoLab builds a knowledge repository of design feedback, decisions, and lessons learned - which AI agents draw from to flag issues on future designs before they compound. The more your team works in CoLab, the smarter it gets and the faster you arrive at the ideal design. Companies like Ford, Komatsu, and Johnson Controls use CoLab to catch issues earlier, eliminate rework cycles, and bring products to market faster.
Founded in St. John's, Newfoundland, CoLab has grown quickly from our first customer in 2019 to a rapidly scaling company. We've recently been recognized on Deloitte's Fast 50™ and Fast 500™, and named a Canadian company to watch by The Globe and Mail and Financial Post.
About the Role
We're hiring a second Senior Product Marketing Manager to join CoLab's fast growing product marketing team.
This role is about turning company positioning and product strategy into launches and messaging that resonate with real engineering teams. You'll partner closely with our existing Product Marketing Manager and work day-to-day with Product Management, Customer Success, and Marketing to bring exciting new capabilities to market in a way that's credible, focused, and easy to understand.
Using CoLab's marketing campaign strategy and product roadmap as guardrails, you'll develop and execute a tactical launch plan each quarter. You'll also help sales win deals against competitors, own the messaging across key pages on the website, and produce content showcasing product workflows for social media.
Our Ideal Candidate
You're someone who enjoys doing the hard work of clarity.
You're comfortable learning complex domains and explaining them precisely - not by simplifying them into buzzwords, but by understanding how things actually work. You can take a vague idea ("this could be a big launch") and turn it into a concrete, executable plan with clear messaging and next steps.
You'll thrive here if you:
  • See strategic guardrails as a shortcut to stakeholder alignment, not a cumbersome restriction
  • Ask sharp questions and respectfully push for clarity
  • Care deeply about whether your work actually lands with customers and internal teams
  • Enjoy fast paced marketing with quick and frequent iterations

You're less likely to enjoy this role if you:
    • Prefer an early stage product marketing role, with undefined company positioning
    • Want to execute launch plans, but not be involved in building them
    • Get uncomfortable engaging deeply with technical or industry-specific concepts

Responsibilities
  • Execute product launches by translating campaign strategy into clear messaging, briefs, and launch assets
  • Own messaging for features and bundled releases, including launch emails, conference talks, presentations, and social posts
  • Partner with Product Management to understand the roadmap and own all launch logistics
  • Partner with GTM Enablement to produce educational materials for CoLab's Sales and Customer Success Teams
  • Own messaging and effectiveness for key website pages, including product, feature, and use case pages
  • Build deep expertise in competitive solutions and support high-stakes competitive deals
  • Contribute to ongoing product content between launches, not just at major release moments
  • Review and elevate messaging across marketing, especially for technical or product-focused content

Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of total professional experience in B2B software or manufacturing, with 2+ years of experience in product marketing specifically
  • Experience with customer research and proficiency in using data and insights to inform product and GTM strategy.
  • Strong track record favorably impacting customer and pipeline outcomes via strong positioning and messaging, campaign planning and execution, and overall thought leadership.
  • A combination of strategic product marketing experience and hands-on tactical execution.
  • Ability to effectively engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders.

Extra Details
  • This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive compensation package that includes stock options.
  • Extended health and benefits package, including unlimited paid vacation and RRSP matching.
  • Flexible remote opportunities across North America, with a hybrid office hub in St. John's, NL.

Equity Note
Frequently cited statistics show that people who identify with historically marginalized groups are likely to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to help us break that statistic and apply even if you don't meet every single qualification-your potential is what matters most to us.
