Job description

Client located in Schiller Park is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Machine Operator to join their precision manufacturing team on 2nd shift. 

This position is ideal for candidates with hands-on machining experience who take pride in producing high-quality parts and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Temp to Hire 
Monday to Friday
5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
Pay Rate: Pay Rate: $18.00 – $21.00/hour 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to meet production requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints and job instructions
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges) for quality checks
  • Make machine adjustments and tool changes as needed
  • Document inspections, tool changes, and production output
  • Address minor issues and escalate more complex ones
  • Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean work area
  • Follow all safety policies and 5S workplace organization principles
  • Collaborate with team members and support other tasks as assigned

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift 20–50 lbs. occasionally; 10–25 lbs. frequently
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for machine operation
  • Ability to work with small parts and distinguish fine details
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2 years CNC lathe setup and operating experience
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical instructions
  • Basic G-code knowledge and ability to make program offsets
  • Understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling concepts
  • Basic troubleshooting and math skills (decimals, fractions)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
