Job description

The Greater New Bedford Surgical and Laser Center was opened in 1986 with the express purpose of rendering high quality, state-of-the-art eye surgery to patients of all ages, especially those with cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, or corneal disease. We also do oculoplastic procedures. The center is designed specifically with the needs of the patient and their family in mind, and the entire process, from initial examination in our clinics in the Eye Health Vision Centers upstairs to the final surgical outcome, is conducted in a pleasant and comfortable environment.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is primarily responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating direct and indirect nursing care given to the surgical patient.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

โ€ข Responsible for delivery of patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative areas.

โ€ข Anticipates the needs of the patient and surgical team, providing services according to the standards of professional nursing practices while maintaining a safe environment for the patient.

โ€ข Participates in patient teaching and provides leadership by working with ancillary personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing.

โ€ข Works closely with other members of the operating room team, including anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists etc.

โ€ข You may be requested to go to another location occasionally

EDUCATION:

โ€ข Graduate of accredited school of nursing

โ€ข Current State Licensure

โ€ข BLS required, ACLS preferred

โ€ข Operating room experience or PACU/Critical Care experience preferred
