Job Summary
  • Work with the Communications to plan and schedule posts, pulling information from various sources on campus to create posts for varied audiences.
  • Strengthen and protect LASER's brand and image online. Ensure all LASER social media pages and posts maintain brand standards.
  • Timely respond in the voice of LASER to questions and/or comments on posts.
  • Work with the Communication Team to develop social media content based on LASER news stories and other events within the university.
  • Timely engage with network members as need arises and also when questions are posted and sent to LASER website and social media accounts.
  • Take direction from other LASER staff members on social media components of integrated marketing projects.
  • Experiment with alternative ways to leverage social media activities.
  • Consistently monitor activity on all LASER social media presences and elevate PR concerns to leadership.
  • Analyze social media metrics to report and make recommendations on upcoming posts and engage with the audience.
  • Review calendar of events throughout LASER to schedule posts accordingly.
  • Research peer and other institutions to review what others are doing through social media to enhance knowledge generation and sharing while allowing for inclusivity.
  • Monitor trends and applications in social media tools, and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase use of social media at LASER.
  • Administrative duties as assigned.

Education
Experience
  • Experience in content creation for social media platforms - especially Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with current social media platforms and ability to professionally customize messages for various audiences.
  • Ability to work with social media monitoring software (Hootsuite, UberVu, TweetDeck).
  • Self-starter with demonstrated experience working on multiple projects; learning from supervisors and collaboration with the entire communications team.
  • Skilled in digital photography for creating visual posts on social media profiles is helpful.
  • Ability to write/edit posts in a clear and concise manner when reposting existing university stories in shortened online format.
  • Ability to create short summaries while posting information on social media.
  • Strong organizational skills, managing processes under deadlines.
  • Team player with ability to work collaboratively with office colleagues.
  • Ability to undertake/execute any other related duties assigned.
