Laser cutting programmer / operator

Job Summary

We are hiring an experienced Laser Cutting Programmer / Operator to program, set up, and operate a 12kW laser cutting system for metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will have experience using nesting software, managing material utilization, and running high-power laser equipment efficiently and safely in a fast-paced, custom production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and optimize cutting jobs using nesting software to maximize material yield and machine efficiency
  • Set up and operate a 12kW laser cutting machine to cut a variety of metals (steel, stainless, aluminum, etc.)
  • Load materials, align and fixture workpieces, and verify machine parameters before cutting
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documents to ensure correct part geometry and tolerances
  • Inspect cut parts for edge quality, dimensions, and accuracy using measurement tools
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, monitor consumables, and report issues or required repairs
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment and comply with all safety protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience operating laser cutting machines in a production environment
  • Experience with 12kW fiber laser systems or similar high-power equipment
  • Proficiency with nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, ProNest, or equivalent)
