Lead Large Format Print Specialist

Location: Garland, TX

We're looking for an experienced print professional who enjoys leading by example, mentoring operators, solving production challenges, and helping keep a fast-paced production floor running efficiently.

Position Summary

The Lead Large Format Print Specialist is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting the daily operations of our print department. Reporting to the Printing Manager, this individual assists with production scheduling, oversees day-to-day workflow, maintains exceptional print quality, and serves as the technical lead for the print team.
This position spends the majority of the day operating equipment, troubleshooting production issues, training team members, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Production Leadership

· Assist the Printing Manager with daily production scheduling and workflow.

· Coordinate work assignments to maximize productivity and equipment utilization.

· Lead, train, and mentor print operators while fostering a positive team environment.

· Help establish production priorities to meet customer deadlines.

· Communicate production status, capacity, and potential delays to the Printing Manager.

· Promote safe work practices and maintain an organized production area.

Print Production

· Operate large-format digital printing equipment.

· Produce high-quality graphics on fabric and other printable substrates.

· Perform print setup, calibration, color verification, and quality inspections.

· Review job tickets and verify production requirements before printing.

· Minimize waste through proper setup and attention to detail.

Equipment & Technical Support

· Perform routine printer maintenance and cleaning.

· Troubleshoot print quality and equipment issues.

· Work with service technicians to resolve equipment problems when needed.

· Help maintain maximum equipment uptime.

· Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Collaboration

· Work closely with Prepress, Sewing, Finishing, Shipping, and Project Management.

· Assist with production planning and scheduling.

· Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production department.

Qualifications

Required:
• Minimum 5 years of experience operating large-format digital printers.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or training production employees.
• Strong understanding of print production workflows and quality control.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple jobs in a fast-paced production environment.
Highly Preferred:
• Hands-on experience operating EFI large-format printing equipment.
• Experience with EFI Fiery, Onyx, Caldera, Ergosoft, or similar RIP software.
• Experience with dye-sublimation printing.
• Knowledge of fabric printing and SEG graphics production.
• Experience with color management and printer calibration.
