Job description

Job Summary:

The Lapping Operator is responsible for running manual machines while helping to enhance the productivity of the organizations machining efforts. This position will also be responsible for performing quality checks and monitoring machine output each hour. This is a standing and constantly moving role. Keeping a fast pace is critical to your success in this position.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reading schematics, drawings, blueprints, and work orders in a production setting running either manual or automated machines
  • Completing work in a timely manner while moving components/parts to the next stage in the production process
  • Perform proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories to be used on production parts
  • Following process procedures maintaining high quality of production parts while driving to improve individual output numbers
  • Follow all company safety protocol
  • Inspect the work area and machines that were used during the day prior to leaving at the end of each shift

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Attention to detail while working with small components
  • Ability to perform moderate math work
  • Ability to work in team or individually as needed
  • Ability to meet commitments by operating finishing machinery

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Precision Machining Certification from a technical college is a plus
  • Car maintenance experience is a plus
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
