Shape Lives Through Communication in the Vibrant Capital - Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us
Overview
What if your next professional adventure empowered individuals to express their thoughts and emotions - in more ways than one? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the bustling city of Washington, D.C., your expertise will not only address challenges related to communication and swallowing; it will also unlock new possibilities, restore confidence, and nurture connections among people of all ages - from curious children forming their first phrases to determined seniors reclaiming their voices.
This position offers you a fantastic chance to work with a diverse range of patients across different life stages within an environment that seamlessly integrates outpatient therapy and occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in pediatric language growth, adult neurogenic communication challenges, or senior cognitive rehabilitation, you will find a supportive atmosphere that adapts to your interests and career aspirations.
Description
  • Assess patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations using both standardized assessments and keen observational techniques.
  • Create tailored treatment plans that focus on both immediate outcomes and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
  • Deliver one-on-one speech therapy sessions emphasizing communication, language, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
  • Engage in teamwork with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and their families to ensure progress continues beyond clinical settings.
  • Contribute to inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions when necessary to facilitate seamless care at every stage.
  • Maintain precise and timely documentation that complies with state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Keep your expertise sharp and relevant through ongoing learning and collaboration with peers.
Education
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if currently pursuing ASHA certification.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is highly regarded.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatments appropriate for all demographics, demonstrating a profound understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills while communicating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adeptness at customizing therapy techniques to accommodate various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and documentation standards.
Benefits
  • Attractive salary package based on experience.
  • Flexible work schedules to support work-life balance and accommodate diverse caseloads.
  • Opportunity to specialize in areas such as pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
  • Health, dentistry, and vision insurance offerings, in addition to life insurance options.
  • Reimbursement for continuing education and encouragement for professional advancement.
  • A team-oriented environment committed to delivering exemplary care and nurturing continuous learning.

A Career That Resonates With You
In this pivotal role, you will not merely render speech therapy - you will immerse yourself in a community-centered mission aimed at restoring voices, improving communication, and fostering joy through the simple yet profound acts of understanding and being heard.
You will work alongside colleagues who regard each other as family in a collaborative atmosphere that values unity over competition. Every patient carries a unique narrative; we are counting on your expertise to help them articulate it.
Why You Will Adore Living and Working Here
In the heart of our nation's capital, the lifestyle dances to a vibrant tune, where the pulse of creativity meets the embrace of diverse cultures. Set against the backdrop of awe-inspiring monuments and bustling neighborhoods, Washington, D.C. offers opportunities for personal and professional enrichment amidst a dynamic urban landscape.
Families enjoy exploring vibrant neighborhoods packed with eclectic dining options, from food trucks to Michelin-starred restaurants, while art lovers find themselves in a treasure trove of museums and galleries reflecting every aspect of human creativity. Culture thrives in the streets, where festivals, concerts, and countless events weave an intricate tapestry of the city's rich heritage.
Living here goes beyond the excitement of professional prospects; it offers a unique blend of culture, connectivity, and a favorable cost of living in comparison to other major metropolitan areas. The benefits are plentiful - from no state income tax to an active health care sector - creating a thriving backdrop for your career development.
Whether you are a newcomer to the speech therapy field or an experienced professional looking to expand your horizons, this city provides fertile ground for your growth - both personally and as a clinician.
Who We Seek
We are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist who pursues not just results, but also compassion. Someone who sees a shy child and imagines them thriving through self-expression, who recognizes the hesitant speech of a stroke survivor and feels the fervor for recovery.
You might specialize in pediatric care and wish to broaden your expertise to the adult population - or you may focus on neuro rehabilitation and wish to incorporate early intervention strategies into your practice.
No matter your specialty, if you are eager to serve with heart and guide with competence, we are excited to meet you.
Let's Transform Lives Together
If you see speech as a bridge to connection and therapy as a partnership - if you value trust above goal-setting and love the sound of laughter alongside language - then this could be the next compelling chapter in your professional journey.
Join us in a community that champions communication, connection, and the bravery it requires to start anew. Apply now to lend your voice to our team - and empower others to discover theirs.
