Gardener and Landscape Care Position

Weekly service should occur on the same scheduled days unless otherwise approved. Any schedule changes must be communicated in advance. Additional hours may be needed seasonally, after storms, or for special landscaping projects.

Compensation

Position Overview
A private family in Odessa, Florida is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable part-time Gardener to maintain two beautifully landscaped private properties located approximately 1.5 miles apart. One property is situated on approximately 1 acre of land, and the second property is approximately 1/2 acre. Both properties feature elaborate landscaping and require consistent, detailed care.

This is an excellent opportunity for a gardener with strong horticulture knowledge, a refined eye for presentation, and the ability to take initiative in keeping the grounds polished, lush, healthy, and estate-quality at all times.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of Florida plants, trees, shrubs, seasonal flowers, pruning, irrigation, fertilization, disease prevention, sunlight and water requirements, and overall landscape care. This person should understand what plants and flowers are best suited for different areas of the property and should be able to make thoughtful recommendations to enhance the beauty and health of the landscaping.

The family is seeking someone who takes pride in maintaining a pristine property and has an eye for beauty, balance, symmetry, and presentation. The right person will be proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to identify what needs attention without waiting to be directed.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain landscaping across two private properties

Care for plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, beds, and landscaped areas

Maintain an estate-quality appearance of the grounds at all times

Prune, trim, clean, and shape plants, trees, and shrubs as appropriate

Monitor the health and appearance of all landscaping

Identify unhealthy plants and recommend corrective action

Recommend seasonal planting, flower rotations, and landscape enhancements

Assist with planting flowers, greenery, and seasonal displays

Understand sunlight, water, soil, and seasonal care requirements for Florida landscaping

Monitor irrigation systems, sprinkler timing, and watering needs

Identify irrigation issues, including leaks, broken sprinkler heads, overwatering, dry zones, or drainage concerns

Safely use fertilizers, herbicides, and weed treatments in accordance with local regulations

Assist with weed prevention, pest awareness, disease prevention, and overall plant health

Keep outdoor areas looking polished, lush, clean, and beautifully maintained

Remove debris, weeds, dead plants, fallen branches, and overgrowth as needed

Maintain flower beds and landscaped areas with strong attention to detail

Blow clean hardscapes, pavers, pool areas, walkways, driveways, patios, and outdoor furniture after service

Ensure no debris is left behind after work is completed

Safely operate lawn equipment, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other landscape tools as needed

Keep equipment clean, organized, and properly maintained

Proactively report dead plants, drainage issues, pest concerns, broken irrigation, unsafe limbs, erosion, storm damage, or landscape deterioration

Assist with hurricane and storm preparation as needed

Assist with post-storm cleanup and property recovery

Coordinate with the family or other vendors regarding larger landscaping needs as appropriate

Take initiative to maintain both properties at a high standard

Requirements
Strong horticulture knowledge

Prior experience caring for private residential landscapes or high-end properties
