VRF Technician – Commercial HVAC

Reports to: Area Service Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Opportunity

We are seeking Commercial VRF Service Technicians. This is a full-time opportunity for a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Position requires professionalism in appearance, verbal and written communication with project managers, service coordinators, customers, and teammates.

Responsibilities

· Apply passion, experience, and technical knowledge to perform start up, service, repair and maintain VRF systems

· Represents the company in a positive manner to other trades, contractors, and owners

· Advises owner/representative of preventive maintenance inspections performed and corrective actions to be taken

· Suggest additional services that are beneficial to the customer

· Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload to ensure customer satisfaction

· Produce clear, timely and concise documentation submitted to all required parties

· Must work in a safe manner every day, all day

· Performs other duties as assigned

· Flexibility to work overtime/ weekends, as required

The Required Profile

· High School Diploma or equivalent. Vocational education is a plus.

· Must have valid driver's license with good driving record.

· Ability to work in diverse conditions.

· Must have EPA certification.

· Must embrace a "best in class" work ethic, shown through diagnostic expertise and superior pride of workmanship.

· Poses a passion for sharing knowledge through supporting and teaching peers in your area of expertise.

· System level understanding of various HVAC configurations, as well as, building automation systems.

· Operational understanding and diagnostic proficiency of the refrigeration cycle (with and without controls).

· Good foundation of new construction and tenant finish out HVAC related work. An electronics background is a plus.

· Minimum of 5 years installing, commissioning, servicing, and repairing VRF systems.

· Very strong at reading plans, submittals, electrical schematics, and refrigerant circuits.

· Comfortable doing service work using a laptop with factory service software programs and multimeter with the ability to diagnose failures down to the PCB component level.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties and tasks.

Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Environmental Requirements

Will be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
