Job description

We are growing our Land Development team in Springfield, MO and looking for a Group Leader to help lead the next phase!

This role is for someone who is ready to expand their leadership beyond individual projects and teams and help shape the direction of an entire group. Not just overseeing the work, but developing leaders, strengthening client relationships, driving performance, and creating opportunities for the group to grow.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll model, deliver, and reinforce the OWN Experience, ensuring group alignment to the five success drivers; Clients, OWNers, Safety, Quality, and Financial Health, throughout the project lifecycle.

Along the way, you’ll:

  • Lead and develop Team Leaders and emerging leaders, creating accountability, building capability, and preparing the next generation of leaders.
  • Oversee the group’s projects and client relationships, providing guidance on complex work, key decisions, and challenges that require a broader perspective.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships, serving as a trusted partner to key clients and helping Team Leaders grow their own relationships.
  • Keep a pulse on the group’s performance, including workload, utilization, financial health, project performance, and overall profitability.
  • Help shape the group’s direction and growth, identifying opportunities, supporting business development, and building a strong pipeline aligned with the division’s strategy.
  • Direct traffic across the group, balancing resources, priorities, and opportunities to make sure the right people are working on the right things.
  • Champion how we work, reinforcing the OWN Experience, safety, quality, and consistent project delivery across the group.
  • Partner with Team Leaders on high-impact decisions, from project strategy and risk to client needs, financial performance, and team development.
  • Help shape the future of the group, contributing to hiring, promotions, succession planning, and the development of a strong, high-performing team.
  • Collaborate across OWN, building connections between groups and divisions that make us stronger as a firm.
What we’re looking for:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri preferred
  • 10+ years of engineering experience focused in Land Development projects
  • Experience in business development activities such as managing client relationships, pursuing new project opportunities, and developing lasting client relationships
  • Experience in project management activities such as determining project requirements, establishing scope of work, and determining design budgets.
  • Extensive experience in leading teams preferred
