Job description

The Landscape Estimator is responsible for producing timely, accurate and detailed cost information of landscape projects by evaluating construction sites, plans, and specifications. They work closely with the Sales Team, Project Managers, Vendors and Subcontractors. They compile required information, pricing, and labor estimates to develop detailed proposals for the sales and operations team. This valued member of the team is an integral part of the success of the operations and profitability of landscape construction projects.

Landscape Estimator Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications,
  • Reviewing sites and gathering information and data for proposals,
  • Completing plan take-offs to gather information and data for proposals,
  • Developing estimates and proposals for landscape construction projects within an integrated software management system,
  • Managing bid calendar and meeting deadlines delivering accurate and detailed proposals,
  • Communicating with vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders,
  • Working with Sales and Project Managers developing budgets, proposals, revisions, and value engineering options,
  • Providing risk assessment and feedback to the operations team as required.

Landscape Estimator Required Skills

  • Have experiential knowledge of the landscape or green industry.
  • Have the ability to read and navigate plans and specifications.
  • Have knowledge of multiple software platforms including AutoCAD and Adobe
  • Be self-motivated and possess excellent time-management skills.
  • Possess Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Be detailed oriented.
  • Have a working knowledge Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Possess strong math skills including basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
  • Possess strong typing skills.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in the Landscape Industry or a related Construction Field is preferred.
  • A minimum of two to three years of estimating experience preferred.
