JOB SUMMARY: Krause is hiring a Landscape Estimator. The Landscape Estimator is responsible for accurate and timely generation of estimates created by the team, or on assigned projects to the estimator, and delivered to our clients. The Landscape Estimator is responsible for staying abreast of, and being currently informed about, product, supply and sub-contractor prices, as well as the company's operating production capabilities, to ensure accurate estimates are produced. The Landscape Estimator will also be responsible for preparing and presenting bids and sales presentations to bid-build projects/clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Estimation:
  • Oversees teams estimating process and standards
  • Trains team on standards of estimating landscape plan sets, materials, labor, margins
  • Prepares estimates for Bid Build landscape projects
  • Reviews design sales team estimates regularly prior to presenting to a client
  • Ensures quality plan sets and estimates being delivered to the operations team
  • Able to perform all aspects of the bidding process including material takeoffs, soliciting subcontractor quotes, material quotes, finalizing specialty material orders, and proposal generation
  • Ensures thoroughness and accuracy of all estimates
  • Work in tandem with the landscape architects/designers, and construction manager to accurately price out all aspects of construction
  • Maintain communication with Design and Construction departments to ensure proposals are submitted on time and with accurate budgets
  • Understands and can calculate installation of labor and material costs for: demolition, grading, hardscape, retaining walls, outdoor living, drainage, irrigation, soil amendments, planting, fencing, lighting, etc.

Sales & Client Service:
  • Has excellent customer service skills and able to meet with a client on a prospective project and discuss landscape projects
  • Meets with clients, creates and presents estimate proposals for landscape "Bid Build" projects
  • Able to sell a proposal to a "Bid Build" prospective client, with or without assistance of a senior manager

Estimation Template/Software Management:
  • Manages and updates the estimation template for landscape proposals
  • Assists in updating costs annually and as needed in proposal templates
  • Works with vendors to obtain maintain and update pricing/costs

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in related construction program
  • 3-5 years' minimum experience in landscape or construction estimating
  • Proficiency in industry specific bidding software
  • Previous experience with high-end residential landscape construction is a plus
  • Experience in construction, project management, or purchasing is a plus
  • Detail oriented, thorough, and precise in planning and executing job responsibilities
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret landscape project plan sets and details of varying levels of complexity
  • Excellent communication skills including written, oral, and listening skills
  • Understanding of local best construction practices
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and Clean MVR
