Job description

As one of the nation’s most progressive design firms, Little is seeking a Structural Technician / Draftsman with a passion for high quality design and a positive, collaborative work style, for our Charlotte, NC office.

Little is made up of Architects, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers, Land Planners, Landscape Architects & Civil Engineers, Interior Designers, Graphic Designers, CAFM & Strategic Planners and Digital Imaging and Animation specialists. We have offices in Charlotte NC, Charleston, SC, Durham, NC; Newport Beach CA, Orlando FL, and Washington DC.

How you’ll make an impact on the structural team:

  • Work individually or in a team under the guidance of a supervisor in an office environment.
  • Prepare construction documents, including foundation plans, framing plans, sections, and details based on engineered sketches and company design standards.
  • Willingness to learn basic structural engineering concepts and how commercial structures are constructed
  • Interpret and translate engineering calculations and design concepts into accurate technical drawings.
  • Maintain company drafting standards and participate in the quality assurance of completed work.
  • Coordinate structural drawings with multiple discipline-specific project team members.
  • Perform site visits with field measuring and observations.

Tools to be successful in this role:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in drafting and design, architectural technology, or engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Some relevant experience in drafting low and mid-rise buildings.
  • Autodesk Revit Certifications are not required but preferred.
