SWA Group

Full-time

Job description

SWA's Houston studio is looking for Landscape Designers with 3-5 years of professional experience in design leadership, construction documentation, project coordination, and BIM/Revit to join our award-winning team of landscape architects, architects, urban designers, and planners.

Our Houston office operates at the intersection of global practice and local impact. While deeply rooted in Houston's communities and ecosystems, our work extends internationally — engaging diverse climates, cultures, and urban conditions. We work with public agencies, developers, and civic partners to rethink how cities grow, adapt, and thrive — often as prime consultant, giving our teams a strong voice in shaping design outcomes from concept through construction.

This role is ideal for landscape designers who understand how ideas move from the page to the built environment and combine strong design thinking with technical rigor and project coordination skills.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute across all phases of the design process, from concept design and visualization to detailing, construction documentation, and construction phase services
  • Support project management and coordination, including schedules, deliverables, and consultant collaboration
  • Translate design intent into clear, buildable drawings and BIM/Revit models
  • Work closely with project leaders and multidisciplinary teams on projects of varying scale and complexity
  • Take ownership of tasks and produce high-quality work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced studio environment

Who You Are

  • You have 3–5 years of professional experience in a landscape architecture or multidisciplinary design practice
  • You bring a proven portfolio demonstrating built or well-developed work
  • You understand the full landscape architecture process—and how design excellence survives real-world constraints
  • You're organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities
  • You communicate clearly and confidently—visually, verbally, and in writing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field
  • Strong design, technical, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in:
    • Adobe Creative Cloud
    • 3D modeling/rendering tools (Rhino, SketchUp, Revit, Lumion, Enscape)
    • AutoCAD
    • Grasshopper and GIS experience a plus

Why SWA | Houston

  • Work alongside a diverse, talented team within a globally respected design practice
  • Engage with exciting projects across Houston, the U.S., and internationally
  • Be part of an idea-driven studio where design excellence guides everything we do
  • Access a standout benefits package, including employee stock ownership, profit sharing, and long-term wealth-building opportunities
  • Live and work in one of the most diverse, creative, and affordable major cities in the U.S.

Please submit the following:

  • Resume / CV
  • Design Portfolio (PDF format, max 20MB)
  • Contact information for 2–3 references
