Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer with 4โ€“7 years of professional experience to join our Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate is a curious, analytical designer with strong construction documentation skills and a collaborative disposition. The person in this role will work closely with Senior Landscape Architects on civic, cultural, and urban projects, primarily focused on design for construction, with occasional planning and master planning assignments. This position provides opportunities for professional growth, exposure to a variety of project types, and immediate opportunities to contribute to the work of the firm.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Produce design and construction documents for campus, civic, cultural, and urban projects under the supervision of senior staff
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (e.g. historians, historical landscape architects, preservation planners and architects) to support design and interpretation of historic and contemporary places
  • Assemble presentations for internal and external meetings
  • Develop graphics, visualizations, renderings, and presentations for public meetings, client workshops, and internal use
  • Support construction administration, including reviewing submittals, RFIs, and field observations
  • Participate in client, consultant, and site meetings as appropriate
  • Identify design or documentation issues proactively and collaborate to develop solutions

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution
  • 4โ€“7 years of professional site design experience, demonstrating growth in responsibility and technical skill
  • Professional licensure in DC/MD/VA or demonstrated progress toward registration
  • Thoughtful aesthetic and technical sensibility, capable of contributing to resilient, contextually aware designs that respect existing sites and historic conditions.
  • A highly organized and passionate professional approach to work with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency in producing construction documentation (plans, sections, details, and diagrams) using AutoCAD (essential); experience with LandFX is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit/Environment and ArcGIS are preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in using digital design tools (Rhino, Enscape, Twinmotion or others) represent site design concepts.
  • Hand drawing/rendering skills are also highly valued.
  • Familiarity with Serif Affinity Suite (preferred) or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • The ability to prepare client and public presentations including concept diagrams, rendered technical drawings, and related 2D/3D graphics.

Travel Required:

  • Primarily local travel within the DC/MD/VA area for site visits
  • Occasional travel to other offices or project sites outside the region

Salary Range Amount

$62,400 - $92,560 Annually
