Job Summary

The Landscape Construction Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the execution of commercial and residential landscape construction projects. This role combines hands-on installation work with crew supervision, jobsite coordination, and quality control to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.

The Foreman serves as the on-site leader, ensuring daily production goals are met while maintaining high workmanship and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Crew Leadership & Safety

  • Lead, supervise, and train landscape construction crews
  • Assign daily work tasks and manage jobsite productivity
  • Enforce safety policies, procedures, and jobsite best practices
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and quality workmanship

Landscape Construction Execution

  • Oversee and perform installation of landscape construction scopes including:
    • Grading, drainage, and site preparation
    • Hardscape installations (pavers, retaining walls, concrete prep)
    • Irrigation system installation and repairs
    • Planting, sod, mulch, and landscape finishes
  • Ensure all work aligns with project plans, specifications, and schedules
  • Identify and resolve field challenges proactively

Scheduling, Materials & Equipment

  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to maintain project schedules
  • Monitor material usage and report shortages or inefficiencies
  • Operate and oversee safe use of equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, and trenchers
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and organization

Quality Control & Documentation

  • Perform daily quality checks on installed work
  • Complete required jobsite documentation including daily logs, photos, and time tracking
  • Assist with punch lists, inspections, and project closeout

Communication & Client Interaction

  • Maintain clear communication with Project Managers regarding progress and issues
  • Represent the company professionally with clients, homeowners, inspectors, and subcontractors
  • Participate in jobsite meetings as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of landscape construction experience (commercial and/or residential)
  • Prior experience leading a crew or acting in a foreman role
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape and irrigation plans
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills
  • Commercial landscape construction experience
  • Irrigation installation and troubleshooting experience
  • Equipment operation experience (skid steer, mini-excavator, etc.)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs routinely
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and walk for extended periods

Este puesto combina trabajo practico en campo con liderazgo de equipo, coordinacion en el sitio de trabajo y control de calidad para asegurar que los proyectos se completen de manera segura, eficiente y conforme a los estandares de la empresa.

El Capataz actua como el lider en el sitio, asegurando que se cumplan las metas diarias de produccion y que el trabajo se realice con alta calidad y profesionalismo.

Responsabilidades Principales

Liderazgo de Cuadrilla y Seguridad

  • Dirigir, supervisar y capacitar a las cuadrillas de construccion de paisajismo
  • Asignar tareas diarias y administrar la productividad del equipo
  • Hacer cumplir las politicas de seguridad y las mejores practicas en el sitio de trabajo
  • Fomentar la responsabilidad, el trabajo en equipo y la calidad del trabajo

Ejecucion de Construccion de Paisajismo

  • Supervisar y participar en la instalacion de trabajos de construccion que incluyen:
    • Nivelacion, drenaje y preparacion del terreno
    • Instalacion de superficies duras (adoquines, muros de contencion, preparacion de concreto)
    • Instalacion y reparacion de sistemas de riego
    • Plantacion, colocacion de cesped, mulch y acabados de paisajismo
  • Asegurar que el trabajo se realice de acuerdo con los planos, especificaciones y cronogramas
  • Identificar y resolver problemas en campo de manera proactiva

Programacion, Materiales y Equipo

  • Coordinar mano de obra, equipo y materiales para cumplir con los plazos del proyecto
  • Supervisar el uso de materiales y reportar faltantes o ineficiencias
  • Operar y supervisar el uso seguro de equipos como minicargadores, mini-excavadoras y zanjadoras
  • Mantener el sitio de trabajo limpio, organizado y seguro

Control de Calidad y Documentacion

  • Realizar revisiones diarias de calidad del trabajo instalado
  • Completar la documentacion requerida del proyecto (bitacoras diarias, fotos, registro de horas)
  • Asistir con listas de pendientes (punch lists), inspecciones y cierre del proyecto

Comunicacion y Atencion al Cliente

  • Mantener comunicacion clara y constante con los Gerentes de Proyecto sobre el avance del trabajo
  • Representar a la empresa de manera profesional ante clientes, propietarios, inspectores y subcontratistas
  • Participar en reuniones de obra cuando sea necesario

Requisitos Minimos

  • Minimo 3 anos de experiencia en construccion de paisajismo (comercial y/o residencial)
  • Experiencia previa liderando cuadrillas o en un rol de capataz
  • Capacidad para leer e interpretar planos de paisajismo y riego
  • Habilidades solidas de liderazgo, organizacion y comunicacion
  • Licencia de conducir valida y historial de manejo aceptable

Requisitos Preferidos

  • Bilingue (espanol / ingles)
  • Experiencia en proyectos de paisajismo comercial
  • Conocimientos en instalacion y solucion de problemas de riego
  • Experiencia operando equipo pesado
